Dear all vapers, I'm Matteo, a new member, and hopefully a new Vaper very soon As I'm young (24) and extremely sporty I decided to quit smoking (ANALOG), I have smoked since I was 15-16 yo. My strategy so far worked out rather well: from 15 analog fags average (Chestefield blue), I decided to quit by smoking Silk cut ultrasoft (3 per day) in the first week (I only bought a pack of it). The second week I decided and purchased a DISPOSABLE Habana look a like e-CIGAR from NUCIG website with low nicotine 6mg cartridge. This week I vaped only when desperate for some nicotine 3-4 times per day and for rather shorty periods (1-2 minutes max) but intensely inhaling the vapour. Now I'm pretty happy about the overall outcomes of this choice (as I'm saving good money) and start thinking to continue vaping and purchsing a proper vaping KIT. Nevertheless I train almost everyday (jogging, ciclying, rowing), and I have to admit I found no satisfactory results on my respiratory function so far, on the contrary if compared to the week I smoked 3 Silk Cut pday, my respiratory, and in turn running performance are definitely worsened. I know my body and I feel like if I'm smoking 10 Analog P/D. After I vape I feel a bit heavy- chest . So I started ask a question to myself.. why I'm smoking this sh*t that nobody really/empirically knows what effect has on my lungs and it proves to be not that good to me from my empirical test.....so I thought perhaps is better to Smoke... as the effects of Smoking are at least well know (extremely negative but well known)...while vaping...what if in ten years an impartial scientific research comes out stating that all that liquid is indeed toxic extremely carcenogic and it melts your lungs??.....perhaps I'd better to smoke some light Analog from time to time rather than explore and risk with this new stuff ???......well maybe that was a bit of a crisis.....but I have resisted and so I'm now writing to you....for your advise and objective feedbacks Thus, my questions to you all are: -is it possible that all this is a problem with my DISPOSABLE device/CIGAR? as I also noted a liquid spill from the junction between the Liquid cartridge and the upper body..... -does vaping really and completely eliminates all the lung issue of smoking, like heavy chest, caugh, airways mucus and so forth? -Do you honestly have had an appreciable improvement in Lung and respiratory functions from vaping in the long term?.... -is any of you an heavy sport addict like me and can convince me with his/her feedback? I'm sorry for my poor English as it is not my native language, I'm Italian and in my country vaping is an extremely innovative topic, after receiving your unbiased feedbacks I really wanna become an early adopter and converse many people also there..where most of the (especially young ) people smoke like trains. I thank you very much in advance for all your feedbacks and your help, Thank you, thank you, thank you!! and congrats to the forum that looks really like a helpful community Matteo

Hello and welcome Matteo I’m sure that someone will be along shortly who has more knowledge than me about your queries. I can only say that I went from getting chest x-rays because of a constant cough which sounded like pneumonia to breathing better and energy levels up within a month and my doctor is extremely impressed Maybe you should continue for a few weeks and see how you feel. But with all things health related you should see your doctor who will be able to check you out Graeme

Hello, Matteo. I was actually only a casual smoker before vaping - I smoked when I drank (and also smoked full time for ten years before that). I train at karate 2 or 3 times a week, and after smoking analogues on the weekend I would notice that my Sunday training session was very difficult and my fitness bad. I tried e-cigs, hoping to replace the weekend smoking, but got hooked very quickly and now I'm a full-time vapist. Perhaps stupid.
I've noticed that full time vaping does NOT affect my fitness....I was initially worried it would, at first. But no. I'm training hard as ever with no problems, and Ive been vaping for almost 6 months now.
However, strong nicotine liquids make me quite phlegmy and give me a cough (so I vape 10-12 mg mostly and this is fine) so you can still get mucus problems, and it is known that PG and/or VG can affect people in different ways. One or the other can cause respiratory irritation and allergies. PG, for example, gives me very achey muscles, because it converts to lactic acid in the body, and clearly my body has a problem with this (but many bodies don't).
Also, the transition from smoking to vaping causes certain symptoms. Your lungs will now be getting rid of all the tar and crap, and this can affect your health....maybe...
There hasn't been enough experimentation yet.
I would advise you carry on vaping, but try out different juices (with different PG/VG levels for example, or organic juices), and drink LOADS of water. And yes, get a better kit and buy your own juices, good ones from companies which publish their ingredients. We can suggest some great ones.
Also I would advise you not to be silly - analogues are proven to kill people, and to go back to smoking would be moronic....no offence.
I'd also be interested to see what other people have to say.
All the best. And your English is actually pretty good.
