From what I remember, the Boots VG is very Thick (or used to be)... You want to aim to end up with a juice that is about the same as the consistancy of raw PG.... or just a tad thicker (every one has different preferences, but thats how I like it anyway)... I find it is good to wick, but still sticks to the sides of the tank, coils, etc, a little.

There is no one answer, it will depend on a number of the above and other factors, as to how much and with what you dilute.

I generally buy Boots VG Moon and decant some off into a 30ml bottle which I add roughly 10% Vodka to, that way I've always got a ready diluted batch ready to go, just saves a step in the mixing process.

But that's just what suits me to do.

Perps - The stuff I've been using is diluted at 10% with distilled water (ecigliquids, I think), which if I do dilute it I'll probably use again, as I don't drink and there isn't any vodka around the house, and I wouldn't want to get pissed while vaping.

It's obviously no great hardship to dilute it, distilled water is cheap as chips, and I'd do as you suggest and decant it into another bottle, but thought if I could get away with one less faff step then I would.

Hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread but need a little advice on glycerine.
I bought a bottle of glycerine today from Boots, it just says glycerine on the bottle not veg glycerine so I hope I have bought the right stuff
I want to make some super strong vg menthol so I can add just a couple of drops to the bottles of any juices I don't like to make them vapable. Would a teaspoon of menthol crystals in 30ml of VG be strong enough to achieve what I want?

Yes, that's the stuff you want Pam . . . though I wouldn't make up 30ml of concentrate for your first try, 10ml of a strong Menthol solution will last you a fair time.

I'd dilute your VG first as well, otherwise it will be very gloopy to handle by itself . . . plus, Menthol crystals in VG will need some warmth for them to dissolve . . . stand your bottle in a cup of warm water or zap it in the micro for a few seconds.

Unlike PG, they don't dissolve quite so readily in VG.

Finally, you're unlikely to need a teaspoon measure in 10ml . . . these are very potent, I'd find a couple of decent sized individual crystals and just use them at first, you can always add more if your solution isn't strong enough for you.

Hi Pam O,

There is a sticky in the Mixology thread that shows you how to do it….

You will also find that the “concentrate Menthol crystal solution” has a saturation point, that is, the liquid (PG, VG, Vodka, etc,) cannot absorb any more Menthol. (I have not measured it exactly, but, I have found it to be around 20% crystal to 80% liquid).

You may temporarily be able to dissolve the crystals past the saturation point by heating, but when the liquid cools back to room temperature the crystals start to reform.

That’s when you know you have the strongest solution possible. Trust me….. that is strong…. Adding just 2 or three drops of this super concentrated solution in a 10ml bottle of “mixed juice” will rock you!

Thanks to all who replied...sorry I didn't see the menthol part on the stickie, I went searching through the whole mixology section

Anyway got me a huge tub of deionised water and a tiny tub of menthol crystals from Tescos today and have diluted the glycerol down and put the tip of a butter knifes worth of menthol crystals in there shook it all up bobbed it round in a cup of hot water for a bit shook it again and now have a very innocent looking bottle of clear liquid. Hardly mixology but it's a start
