i used to fall prey of at least two bad men colds a year but since vaping and stopping smoking i havent had anything worse than a sniffle... im thinking its all of the above as well as the huge reduction of carbon monoxide in my system

I must be unique, here. I haven't had a cold AT ALL for a couple of years, and when I have had colds in the recent past, they've been pretty feeble ones. I'm actually dreading what might happen now I have stopped smoking, because my colds have always been significantly worse during my previous non-smoking periods. In fact, and I used it as a "get out of jail free" card for years afterwards, I once went to my GP with a really bad cough when I was off cigarettes, and she informed me that stopping would very likely have made things worse, because, as smoke is an irritant, your throat compensates by producing more mucus, and so when that stops, your throat isn't as lubricated, so your cough hurts more. Hopefully, however, from what others have said, vaping might help reduce some of the symptoms. In my case, though, I'm resigned to probably getting a cold soon..

Ewol and oneday - #icon_rofl# Kickit - the power of positive thinking! - tell yourself that you won't get a cold as you are now an ex-smoker and for that reason more healthy, and enjoy your mucus-free passages

Well I had (have) a proper smokers cough---I'm talking veins in forehead--light head--to the point of nearly fainting. So bad I have to pretend to strangers that I actually have a cold or flu. When I really got a cold it was unbearable and embarrassing to say the least. So vaping is pretty important to me as I have found that in a few short weeks that I am not having the bouts of hell that I was used to.

That is interesting, as when I used to try to give up smoking, I always had a really sore throat. I could never work it out.

I've been fine, but my poor husband has been struck with a terrible chest infection. When he smoked he was rarely ill with colds, and then only for around 24 hours. He's been off the fags for 7 months and has antibiotics, steroids and two inhalers. The doc even sent him for a chest x-ray cos he was breathing so poorly
