Hi all again , Been researching AGAIN as I know that I most probably need a VV device . The thing is that it's dawned on me that I've spent far to much on pretty mods and don't really want to be spend any more if I have to . Now I've come across the Evolv Kick and think this might be the answer I'm looking for . I'm sure you seasoned vapers all have one of these in your kit and was wondering what your views are on the Evolv . It seems to me that the Kick does pretty much what a VV does and that is give me the option to regulate the power I'm using . So the Evolv Kick , should I get one ?

I don't have a kick so can't comment on it's performance from a user perspective. What the kick does is regulate the wattage rather than the voltage. So you set it to your preferred wattage and whatever the state of your battery or whatever atty you put on it, the kick will make adjustments and you will get a consistent vape.

This is where my lack of technical knowledge let's me down , to me the EK does exactly what a VV does , wattage / voltage ? As I see it it gives me the ability to basically wind up the power the battery delivers to any atomiser/cartomiser I'm using ....or am I barking up the wrong tree again ?

I had the same lack of technical knowledge. Then one day I had a Eureka moment and suddenly it all made sense. I put up a thread about it here

I put up a thread about it hereThanks very much Oneday , I think I'll need to read it several times before it all sinks in but from what I can decipher so far is that an Evolv Kick could be a smart move . I set it to a wattage that suits me and no matter what device I use the Kick does all the work and figures out how much power to put out . I think . Which is pretty much what you said in your first post ....doh

For example, I have a pene with 1.6 ohm coil, and a spheroid with 1.3ohm coil with the same juice in. Switching between the 2 gives me an almost identical warmth of vapour while using the kick. Flavour and TH are slightly different due to the workings/internal chamber design.

You've got the idea greendollar - very useful devices. The only other issue is what you put it in. Mostly people use them in 18650 metal tube mods - you replace the 18650 battery with an 18490 battery plus kick.

Well I'm not to keen on metal tube mods but hopefully my Touchwood will be arriving soon and with a slight modification I should be able to get the Kick working in that using a 18490 .

kicks are great devices ...specially if you like to swap and change what you have connected to your mod they are a truly set it and leave device
other plus is you can swap the kick into what ever device you want with minimal effort
