HI guys im new here but not to the forums, Ive got some vanilla custard flavouring on order which ive never used before ( wish id had seen the group buys earlier ) and as this place seems to be capella central, Im wondering at what sort of ratios to mix it and do you add anything with it..ie ethyl maltol or any other flavour combo's....Thanks

Hello & welcome Robert I'm not into mixing my own juice, so can't help you, but I'm sure others will be along soon to help

25% of capellas custard is far too high. That's the only one of theirs which is super concentrated. It can take on a cheesy note at 20%, you don't need to use much of it, trust me

Pixie you're a star, I did it at this and wasn't as powerful smelling (in a good way) during steeping, nor as sweet as another popular vanilla custard, but after myself and a friend gave it a thumbs up I was happy, but I should take your advice definitely, also not tried sucralose or stevia sweetener as yet, only Ethyl Maltol, all part of the adventure, thanks ever so much, nice to get pointers from a master

You're welcome. I wont give away my recipe but experiment with mixing it with other things as well to make it come into its own to really give it that creamy custard taste

Indeed Pixie, thank you, I haven't just plonked it on there with a few random figures, I compared ratios with other mixers on here, and as you kindly point out there are other flavours to consider adding, Capella seems to have a popular following here in a very short time as they, in my opinion, are very rounded. Early days for us all in the Capella camp. I'm playing with gingerbread and French vanilla too at the moment in with the custard, along with other small additions, sure it won't be bad, I'll put a recipe for it up after a steeping session, just trying to add some choice for our diy'ers, and not emulate a particular product. Again, thank you for your cherished advice

Oo perps, I forgot to ask you, I'd forgotten that you used Capella tbh.
Have you tried their gingerbread, and Dutch chocolate mint? They have some scrummy stuff.
I'll send you a few samples, got your addy now.
Thanks for the feedback, I was hoping my taste buds hadn't gone AWOL .

I love their Gingerbread Skwoddy . . . sent our Brian a sample of that as well to try. Just said on the bulk order thread, I haven't had a flavour that I haven't enjoyed from Capella and I've been through a fair few now. Pralines & Cream is the next on my mixing radar. Can't wait for the samples, thank you.

Lol . . . it saves me stuffing my face, if I vape the sweetie flavours instead Skwoddy. But that's what I love about Capella, even though they are sweet concentrates, they're not sickly or cloying. I could happily bath in Vanilla Custard.
