I just wanted to post about my central heating. It's not been working for a couple of weeks now and I had it fixed today. Sitting in bed with laptop all warm and cosy with freshly washed clothes drying on the radiator. It smells brilliant. It's amazing what we take for granted sometimes.

My automatic air release valve leaked a couple of weeks ago, ended up having to remove it and cap it with a 15mm compression stop, got fixed the day after only to discover a leaking radiator once they'd left leaking from one of the spot welds So far so good, but I don't use it often as a) not signed up for it yet, and b) will need to work out the hourly rate before I start getting too cosy Glad you've got it all fixed, and before the real cold weather hits

Give it a few weeks and I may have to turn ours on. I don't tend to have it on unless you can see your breath, and then only to take the edge off. However this year I may have to leave it off after spending so much on vaping gear. I am sure the rest of the family won't mind

Hmm our central heating went kaput back in Feb , in the meanwhile I've had to switch jobs a couple of times and theres very little in the piggy bank for replacing the old system , heres hoping for a win on the lottery Looks like the thermals are going to come in handy this winter

I love heat in the winter; can't stand cold fingers and toes, especially with circulation to my extremities not being as good as it used to be. With the price of fuel though, what I'm tending to do these days is spot heating - use 250W and 150W IR lamps and point them at where I'm sitting, or tools I'll be using or the workbench. And thermals, of course - M&S once again to the rescue.

Currently awaiting delivery of a log burner. Spent yesterday working on lining the chimney....which was a job that kept me warm enough not to care about heating. 2 cubic metres of wood coming on Tuesday. Happy days! I suggested fitting a log burner 20 years ago. Now, finally, we're doing it because it was OH's idea. Men, eh?

Glad you are all toastie now Ewol. Our boiler went bang last year and at the time we couldn't afford the 2.5k to replace it and the flue etc so we went through temps of minus 10 with no heating in the house. It was hell getting out of bed every morning Even our dehumidifier on the landing refused to work as it was so cold in the house that the ice alarm had come on Got a shiny new boiler now and trying to get the money together to get some oil for it now £400 in one hit for 500 litres is not easy to do.
