TR-001 Charger sparks

Been using the trustfire charger for my 18650,For a while there was a slight clicking sound coming from the charger.

If the 18650 batts are 3.7v or above the charger clicks away but not loudly and not for long.

Problem is when they are below 3.7v its clear its not a click but an electrical spark flashing on the top right of the charger and much louder ,Picked the charger up and thats when i seen the sparks near the only screw on the back (just beside the power cable connector)

Anyone else had this or similar issue with a TR-001 ? Or even a fix for it ?

When I'm charging my batteries, they don't make a sound but when they are fully charged, the charger makes a tiny high pitched buzzing noise. I thought it was normal.

I also thought the sound it makes was normal chiller until i seen the flashes but its not the buzzing sound its this bright blue electrical spark.

As the batt gets more charge in it the sparking dies down ???

Chuck it out, it's a fire hazard! Get yourself a Xtar charger instead

Very good charger at a very sensible price, Have a search about and you may find it a bit cheaper

Cheers oneday & blakey i knew it wasnt normal when i seen the flashes.Was wondering if anyone else had this prob.

Oh well guess ill invest in an xtar next week (know i should have long ago ) ill stick to my twist and ego`s for now

I’ve had 2 Trustfire chargers both as part of Mod kits & both have given off a high pitched whistle. I didn’t trust either of them so only used 1 of them for a single charge cycle while I waited for my Xtar SP2 to be delivered.

I’ve still got them somewhere, I just can’t bring myself to throw anything away even though I know I’ll never use them! The Mrs. Says I’m sad to hang on to stuff this way, but they’re brand new! does anyone else cling to stuff they’ll never use or is it just me?

I agree with the advice you’ve already been given, Xtar is a decent choice & should serve you well.

Yeah me too

I have a BIG plastic box with loads of connector leads and cables, I keep all the spares I get with new kit and bung them in there, mind you it has served me (and my friends) well on some occasions.

I have been using my trusty trustfire for almost 2 years , it whistles and whines .... but if I saw it spark it would be straight in the bin !!

Trustfires have a reputation for being a noisy charger , it doesn't mean they are faulty , but I would agree with Blakey on this one if you can see sparks bin it NOW

Send them to me if you like 300, Mine makes a high pitched whining sound when I first plug the batteries in if they are below 3.6, doesn't last long. and I've had the charger in at least daily use for 7 to 8 months now. I do keep meaning to buy a better one and keep this one for backup, but never get round to it

Mine makes a whistling noise when I first put the batteries in, but it stops after a little while. It charges the batteries fine but I wouldnt use it if I ever saw sparks though !

No me neither in fairness phoenix, when I first heard this sound I was worried, but a little research and experience and it seems safe enough. Sparks however, would earn it pride of place in the bin!

I must be sad too, hate throwing things out that may be useful at some point. The problem is though, I have so much 'stuff' that I can never find anything when I need it

I use an x-tar charger but still have a trustfire one a back up
