To be fair one day, they do 'work' too those Eastern Europeans, My last job before I started doing what I do now was on an electronics production line, (with breaks, and good pay lol) and there were a fair few eastern Europeans there, and I have to be honest, they put most of the Brits there to shame, they generally work very, very hard, whilst the British girls were more interested in socialising, and chatting about what was on TV the night before, I'm kind of sorry to say that, but it's how it is. I know I too am making generalisations, but it's how I saw it.

Yes, Alvoram, I understand. Unfortunately in hard times it pits workers against each other while the culprits laugh all the way to the bank. Nothing new there.

The "culprits" as you call them are business owners working within the law to keep the British economy going

Well I don't believe that any nationality or ethnic group has some special work ethic gene. I think that migrant labourers often work harder for lower return because they have a goal to save enough money to set them up when they return home to a lower cost economy. Many of them travel alone and don't have the pull of family to go home to in the evenings. One example I know of: a Filipino nurse who reckoned he could make enough in a few years to set himself up for life in the Philippines. I think he planned to open an hotel.
Sure, there are plenty of people in every country who think the world owes them a living, but I don't believe that the majority are like that. Most people are willing to do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay but there's something fundamentally wrong when workers are expected to surrender hard won pay and conditions in order to compete with their counterparts in poorer countries.
The "culprits" I referred to are those for whom there will never be enough profit......not those struggling to keep a business ticking over in a recession.

I have to say, that the place looked quite good, if I compare with some places over here, I've been in and worked in some engineering firms and cripes, that place makes them look like Goa'uld slave camp! They all seem to be quite trendy, they all dress better than me anyway! It's really not bad for a little factory, and don't forget they also get a place to live with their job. It's not perfect, it really isn't, but it's not that bad! Despite having several careers some that paid, very well, I was able to do a couple of hours and walk away with over £1000, I've also worked for 20 hour days, 7 days a week, spent most of the time covered in blood, mud, poo, wee, get to smell really unpleasant smells, and out of the 45k I got a year, after food, and food for over 220 animals came out, and fuel, diesel, and tax, and insurances, and servicing, and staff, and a home, I think I was left with about 3.5k a year, sometimes if that! Obviously I did the job because I loved it, and one didn't do that sort of job for the money, it was a passion and a way of life! The factory looked clean, the workers were all working away and doing what they were doing, what other option would they have? It wasn't the most clinical of factories, but for a small factory, I think it gets a thumbs up for the most part! Also China now is starting to outsource to other countries, Ethiopia being one, I was listening to the BBC world service economic program, and well labour out there was even cheaper than China! So the company creates some housing, a few roads, a transport link, and then it has access to cheap labour and can operate out there at even more of a profit Credit due where it's due, and credit due for allowing them to film, a great little insight into a world we often know nothing about
