Hey all, So i'm planning on making a couple of box mods for xmas prezzies - mostly been following what garry dibbley and gothiclord have written/shown so far (many thanks btw) - 2 18650s in an altoids tin, which requires the LM2596 board and a LED voltage display, among other things. But would this work much easier? (in a bigger tin obviously) Since it's both those things rolled into one? www.iiet.cc/lm2596-voltage-regulator-dc-buck-converter-4528v-to-1325v-power-supply-module-with-blue-led-voltmeter-display-p-275.htmlAnd would it be easy to wire up to everything else? I'm a total noob when it comes to electrics and so forth, any help would be appreciated. Oops, forgot to post the link! Duh!

Looks good to me, 15W 1.5A output; what I'd check is it's heatsink requirements as even with a bigger tin if it needs a big heatsink it could scupper your plans. Also what's the shipping, as it can be quite high from the USA?

well apparently the shipping is free, and it's not USA...what is this heatsink you speak of, Des? Remember I'm an electro-moron. ???

1.5 Amps is a bit low for e-cig use and you will have to stack batteries for that to work at general vaping voltages..
If you don't do electrical, I would advise not to make anything with stacked batteries..

These devices often, (but not always) need a heatsink to stop the components overheating. Usually on these sites you can download a datasheet that has this type of info on it but I can't see one on that site Maybe Garry or macca will see the thread and be able to give you better guidance, mine was just a "heads up", it's been a long time since I worked (properly) in electronics. Postage is £2.01, it comes from Hong Kong.

I would advise separate components, it is much easier then it looks, especially with the wiring guide I sent you, I followed it, and had no problems.
My biggest issue was drilling the holes, as I'm not used to using a drill on such a small item (I'm more used to drilling computer cases).
There are plenty of people here who have helped me, and I'm sure will help you, and I am more then happy to help where I can
