I'd try it but just set up 2 new wicks on my 2 atty's and got them working great.. I don't want to touch them now lol

You can only use unoxidised mesh wick reliably when there is a insulator in the wick hole and the bottom of the tank is made of non conducting material..
Otherwise that coil can pop at any time even with the slightest of movement.
