No need to reply. Just having a feeling sorry for myself moment and need to offload it. Even if it is just into cyber space.
Nearly 2am and can't sleep. In so much pain there's no point trying to go to bed yet. So fed up with all my meds. Fentanyl (morphine) skin patches as good as useless these days and don't want to go on higher dose as on so much it makes me spaced out. Have taken painkillers on top of this and still no joy. I like to stay positive and jolly if i can, but bloody hard work at the moment. If the pain in my spine, shoulder and legs would just stop for half an hour so i can get to sleep i would be sooooo grateful. Its times like this that make you feel like giving up.
There... done it. Off you go to cyber land....

I have no choice but to keep taking the patches as nothing else comes close to dulling the pain. Trouble is the dose is getting higher and higher. It sends me into cuckoo land sometimes!

Oh sweetheart I feel your pain. Have spent most of this year in pain with fy stomach, and it also keeps me awake, was on oramorph but despite it being the only thing that cleared the pain they took me off it and put me on tramadol as they were worried I'd become addicted, not that I would!!! Just wanted to say you're not alone and I totally understand everything you've said. *big but gentle hugs* XXX

I do worry about being addicted to the Fentanyl. I have been on it over a year now in ever increasing doses. I am up to 50mg an hour now. They last for 3 days then you have to put new ones on. A few times i have forgotten i already have a new one on and put another one on...omg!! i am pollaxed . Still, i sure as hell didnt feel any pain then I am so sorry you have a lot of pain too. Make sure you rest up and don't try to do too much. Now, i think i will try to get some sleep. Big hugs xx

I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain dolly I all ways found night time the worst for pain before I got a new neck fitted I used to spend hours sitting on the stairs as it was the only place I could find comfort. I ended up getting Diazepam from the doctor for night time as he thought they worked better than pain killers and help you relax just a thought as things work better sometimes in mix and match rather sticking to one thing all the time I hope you feel better soon and take care

Thank you. Really hope you feel better soon, the tramadol does at least take the edge off but doesn't take the pain away!!! Just been told hospital bringing appt forward to this afternoon so that's positive especially with how crap I look atm might make them listen!!! Sorry posted in here to let you know you're not alone, not for sympathy? Do you text people? If so would it help to have my number for in the nights? WHEn you're in pain and can't sleep the nights can be so lonely, I@m ok now cos found things to do, but am awake so if it'd help you let me know!

Has it all stopped now you have a new neck? I have already been mix and matching with pain relief. I have nortyptaline too, not sure i spelt that right and also take prozac because it all gets me down so much at times. The problem is I also have other medical issues which i have to take meds for so they have to be careful what they give me. I am type 1 diabetic and use insulin. My pain is cause by Spondylitis in the spine and also arthritis. Wish i could get a new spine!!! When i think back 5yrs years ago i was a post lady in Sydney Australia and would bounce around the streets in all that heat and humidity no problem. Now I spend a lot of time in a wheelchair and on a good day walk very slowly with a stick. Sorry for rambling on. And there was me saying no need to reply last night lol...

WHEn you're in pain and can't sleep the nights can be so lonely, I@m ok now cos found things to do, but am awake so if it'd help you let me know! I understand that you don't do this for sympathy. For those that dont have chronic pain all the time it is difficult for them to understand. In general people don't have much tolerance for other peoples problems so you tend to not speak up when its hurting. I certainly don't want sympathy, just a way of externalising the pain if that makes sense?? I don't really do texting. Much to my daughters annoyance!! i have a habit of leaving my phone everywhere but near to where i am which means i don't answer because getting to it hurts too much especially if i have left it in the car But i am happy for you to pm me on here whenever you want to. I really do appreciate your support. This place is a godsend. Thank you

I feel for you dolly...............another sufferer here, I have Ankylosing Spondylitis......... was in hospital the other month due to a mega flare up! I did actually feel like giving up that time. Pain is a bitch at times as well as the stiffness in the morning and at night, and not been sleeping very well due to spasms of a night........... most of the night is spent trying to get into a position that is actually comfortable. Was hoping to be referred to the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath...........my Rhuemy says it would be beneficial for me to go and so does my GP..........but bl**dy PCT wont as they say "we cannot justify the costs of said referral" > dont stop them wasting money on useless computer and phone systems though!! >

HI Dolly so sorry to hear that you and others are suffering so badly I think they need to spend a lot more on care for spine and arthritis problems. They are quick enough on paying endless managers who think of ways to stop treatment > I was lucky that my work paid for me to have a private operation It's a very scary operation but as soon as you wake up you know that things are better I always tried to keep warm still do and I hate the cold and damp it's a pity I live in Scotland then Please take care and big HUGs
