Hey folks i'm pretty new to this forum and looking for some help already. I will be back in the UK this coming April and staying with my mother. Unfortunately she has no internet access and i need some. She has a telephone, the sky box etc though. I will only be back for 2-3 weeks and would like help to what would be the best bet to get internet access for that period. No point in getting a contract as it won't be used after i leave.
Thanks for any pointers.
Graeme

Yep sounds like a dongle is what you will need. I think TMobile did a good option when I was looking a few weeks ago. I lost the internet for a few days and went nuts. It was liking living in the dark ages. I found I needed to google things like are pandas dangerous and could you keep one as a pet right then and didnt want to wait.

Graeme, Most of the mobile companies (3, Orange, Vodafone, O2 et al) do mobile broadband dongles on Pay As You Go. Check them out, order in advance for delivery to your Mum's and you should be good to go when you arrive. It's not as cheap as contract but then again, you're not committed to months on end. I use 3 at work and get good coverage. For me, Vodafone and Orange don't provide good coverage where I live but 3 and O2 are excellent. Sean

hi if you have smart phone ie a android phone or i-phone if you have unlimited internet connection with your supplier do what I do when i stay at my daughters, she does not have internet connection I tether mine to the laptop, using my usb connector, Go to the market place put a search in for tether, choose the free one download it connect to laptop, transfer files from phone to laptop open and run program software, its all explained to you on the download .when finished installing everything just connect with the phone plugged in to your laptop with usb cable and away you go. Hopeless at explaining thinge ??? google tether and all will be explained LOL Tony

Hi , yes a prepaid dongle is the way to go , our phone/broadband line has been down for 3+ weeks now , so thats what im using now , the best value is the Vodafone one which is about £24.99 and comes with 3gb which will last a good month+ if you are just surfing and not downloading films/tube ect , this is what we got , but DOH no coverage here , so you need to check that out first , our 2nd option and the one im using for the last 3 weeks is T-mobile £19.99 plus you need to pay a topup of £7 for week £15 for month , its been very good

Thanks for the replies (except camper who will get a surprise when his mods arrive)..lol I use a go as you pay dongle when i travel to OZ frequently to work - yes i do work and don't just sit on my arse and punt mods before the camper chips in again. I'll get my mother to check who has the best coverage for her area. Being Scottish i might even see if there's any free trial offers, use it and then decline it after the offer ...did i not tell you that graeme is not my real name its 'cheap Charlie' Thanks again i'll get mummy to look into the dongle.
