Yes..If the button starts flashing and the vape cuts out you know you have a short..

How many coils of 0.2 did you use to get that high a resistance? How are you measuring your resistance by the way? If using a multimeter are you touching the probes together and subtract the internal resistance of the meter to the value?

Oh yes, I did try to get a reading touching the probes, but it kept flickering from like 0.4 - 999!

Last one I tested read 3.8 or something....maybe I should just go ahead and vape, see what comes? ???

5 coils, around two 2ml strands..... (1 strand looked a bit weedy...)

OK. Discovered the multimeter *would* give me a constant reading of either 0.9 or flickering to 1.0 by touching the very bases of the probes. So, that's good.

3.8 - 0.9 = 2.9
or just did another 4.0 spot on.

The wire is Kanthal, happy to buy a different one.

Kanthal A1 AWG32 (0.20320mm) - Approx 46Ω per metre

I'd have thought the 4.0 (3.0) I've just done would be fine on a VV device.....at 4.3v......

Overall, quite happy.

Found that using micro-clamps (to hold the initial single loop) I can get the coil tighter, really smart job actually.

I'll do all my spares tomorrow, take a deep breath and try some.

If I build the centre post/coil head "outside" of the tank tube, shall I drip on a little juice or just fire it up and watch it glow?

try 4 turns instead of 5 and see if that works better for you.

I am surprised you are getting 3 ohms with 5 wraps of 0.2 Kanthal..Must be a pretty thick wick you are using because around a 2mm wick normally you would get around 1.6 to 1.7 ohms for 5 turns.

Anyway, the main thing is that you are happy with the results..Yes it's fine to drip a couple of drops and fire it to test..
