I know this prob has been asked lots of times before, as im quite new to ecigs, ive been spending alot of money on e juce, clearomizors , just bought a vamo, now ive bought some vivi novas, so now I want to start saving money. what i want to do is start re coiling my vivi novas myself to save me buying new heads, so what i want to ask is, which wick and which wire do i buy, and where from.and also what thickness.

what thickness should the wick be ? thanks for the reply blakey That's up to you, I prefer the 2mm but you could use a few strands of 1mm or a couple of 1.5mm, I have a good supply of all three because I like to use combinations. The wick itself is some of the best I've come across in this vaping game I suggested the .15 wire because you don't nee so much of it to wind coils which is handy because there isn't much room in the post to fit a larger coil. .16 will work just as well though and is a much better intermediate wire. When you coil something like an odysseus you can use .2 wire because you have a lot more room to house the extra coils. I covered the re-wicking here allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&thread=10755

Just as a warning bomber...
I did a load of rewick jobs yesterday. I got one of them a bit wrong and fried my Riva battery.
a) I shan't EVER be trying rewicked atomiser heads on a good battery. b) I now have 10m of wick and wire permanently in the spares box for when/if I get something less "risk free" to re-wick.
I'm thinking about a vision eternity, by the looks of the design it looks far safer......
PLEASE be careful.

Hopefully someone will be able to advise you on the dangers of making a bad coil/wick and putting it on a posh "mod-type" battery. The first one I did was fine. The second one had some problem.... allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=15010If I'm gutted to have fried a 3 month old Riva battery, worth a few quid tops, I reckon anything else and I'd be well upset. Thank goodness I didn't do it on my 13000 Spinner.

I've just had a go at some more. They won't be going in/on my mini vivis anyway, as I'm getting 3.5-3.8 ohms resistance.
No point in vaping on them without a monster battery.

A VAMO, Lavatube or similar mod is fine to try your re-buildables and rebuilt coils on because they have robust short circuit protection..
It's only the ego clone type batteries that seem to have a problem with semi-shorts, ie., where part of the coil shorts and demands high current. While many of these types do have dead short protection they do not seem to recognize semi-short situations and fry the circuitry.
The Twist and Spinner are fine too..I regularly use the Chinese genesis on a Spinner and I have regularly been using my Vertigo rebuildable with SS wicks for over 6 months and the AGA-S genesis on the Twist with no issues and when there is a semi-short, the circuit cuts off the supply without any damage.

Take your time when building them, ensure that all wires are running true and none are touching any part of the attie that they shouldn't. The most common cause of shorts with these is when the positive wire touches the attie wall or touches the negative wire, That alone will fry any riva/ego type battery. If you take an extra couple of mins when building and an extra couple of mins when checking your completed work then you should be fine. If you have a mechanical mod to try things on first then great, if you have a high end mod like a provari which has short curcuit protection then even better.

Is it safe for me to try out the "orphan" wicks I've made for vivi nova then using my spinner? Any idea how to get them to under 3 ohms? (I don't ask much do I) Got 2ml silica wick and the thicker of the 2 wires (0.2....)
