You can switch it to VW (they call it) mode, and it will now auto-test the atty resistance - in other words, it's working properly.
You'll need to set your temperature alarm to something over 40 degrees, and then, it seems, you're good to go.
This is what upgradeable firmware is all about...

This now a seriously nice piece of kit... the menus are still clunky, but using it is a dream... as long as the roundy-roundy switch holds up, it'll be a good 'un

Indeed - best I can manage out of it, wattage wise, is around the 9 watts mark - my understanding is that there is a further update on the way which will possibly address that and up the ante a bit to around the 11 watt mark. It's an interesting ride!!!
