Resistance wire, Kanthal or Nichrome

I'm just about to order some resistance wire, I'm happy to bulk buy and post out to people again.

I can either get the normal 0.16mm Nichrome wire or 0.20 Kanthal wire. The Kanthal will be slightly dearer.

I'm not sure how many metres are on a roll of Kanthal so I'm guessing it will be around the same as the 0.236 no resistance wire, working out around 20p a metre as opposed to the Nichrome resistance wire which works out around 7p a metre!

I've just placed an order for both the Kanthal .020mm and nichrome .16mm Will let everyone know when it's arrived

im just thinkin of goin this route at the mo so not in need of any. what i would like to know tho, is whats the differnce between the 2 wires ?

No idea rybes, I saw macca (I think) post that Nichrome contains something that by a slim chance could be bad to vape, not confident of that, hopefully he sees this and replies.

that wouldnt surprise me alvoram as im guessin its made from nickel and chrome. if i got that route ill try kanthal. as i cant work out from the name if that sounds bad or not lol

I use the nichrome from Dee and I've not had funky tastes but that's not to say you won't the big difference I have heard about is it popping the coil easier but I am no master

I've used it ever since the first Iatty came out, not had a problem at all, no funny taste and not dropped dead

I find some coils I make last me 2 weeks and I vape constantly, other's last me a few days, pretty much the same as atties.

I've found that the tighter I wrap the two different wires together to make the resistance the longer they last.

I did have an issue with the resistance wire burning through my wick but sorted that, I'd been wrapping it too tightly around the wick.

I've made my first coil using the Kanthal tonight, I'll see how that performs compared to using just the Nickel and the Nichrome that I normally use.

I find that Kanthal is a lot more durable than the Nichrome wire , I dont use anything else now
