Vivi Nova re wick

So Vivi Nova how do you do yours ?

I have enjoyed doing my visions with 0.20 kanthal and 1 mm wick,I simply double the wick up then double it again,this gives me three strands down each side,I then with the aid of a needle do four wraps of the Kanthal,I found this worked a treat.

So onto the Novas of which I have two,as they came with 3 heads,rather than be wasteful I used a couple in each then decided to keep a couple spare,so i set about re wicking them,attempt one and a bit over ambitious,i started making a couple of mistakes,first off I moved to 1.5 mm wick and did as above I then used a rather large needle and decided to try 5 wraps of the Kanthal,once all together I had a coil of 3.1 ohms,whoops but I will try it anyway,well it overwicked I think and turned the Nova into a gurgle machine,that was last night,I took it to work today and reduced it by a strand of wick,tightened up the coil and reduced it too four turns,this was better around 2.2-2.4 ohms and going like a train,only thing though it seems a bit muted,could be down to my usual impatience as I didn't really dry the Nova well after giving it a good washout.

Anyway before I do any more heads,I just wandered what you lot have been doing to yours and what wick and wire you have used

I tried cotton wool wick from those make-up cleansing pads the other day. Around 3mm thick, 0.16 Nichrome, 4 wraps. Vapes lovely.

I tried a mesh u wick on my Viva Nova, it went well till it fell over then it seemed to of flooded the thing up, so i now do a 3 strand 1mm wick with .20 kanthal and getting 2.4 - 2.8

I used the drillbit method the other day, but with a syringe needle.

Coiled 4/3 with 0.2 (1.5 ohms), slotted needle into slots and connected the wires, then pulled the needle out and heated the coils a few times before twisting a cotton wool pad wick through.

I like my cotton wool pad wicks, they're great.

Damn no womens cotton wool pads to steal,will try that idea though,think you have to watch you don't dy burn them,might even try torturing my fingers making and bending a mesh u wick

Well, I'm a simpleton.

I just wrap 5 times around a piece of 2mm wick. That's it.

I'd like to try some 1mm wick, except I need to find some with "fair" P&P.

How come (on the Visions) if you double it up and double it up again, you get 3 strands? ???

yes i get a bit of a muted taste aswell, don't realy know why this is.
ohms 2.5. going to try a tighter coil tonight see what happens ..

Yes trick question really I double up then turn one strand back to achieve 3 a side

Nice. I'm going to try this when I find a good deal on 1mm wick
