I got delivery of my Kanthal yesterday so decided to recoil my clockworks RTA with 0.20. With 5 turns on a 3mm wick I can consistently get 1.7ohm. However at 3.3V the vapour production was poor. I am having to turn it up to 4.0V to get decent vapour production . Is that normal. At 4V it is perfect with good throat hit, and loads of vapour. Ijust thought I wouldn't have to turn the Zmax up so high? Here's my coil

Yep, I would run a 1:8ohm coil at about 4v for my taste personally. If you look closely at that coil you can see caramelisation starting to take place which will start to taste rank as it builds up. Also, to aid wicking on these, where you have that bung if you bend in half a length of 2mm wick and feed the two ends into the hole you can then let the loop at the other end sit under the coil and it will allow more juice to get to the coil.

I've never got under 2 ohms with 5 wraps of Kanthal 0.2 (Is your reading/meter spot on?)
Even on a lavatube or spinner, I'd be straight in at 4.0v to get any decent vapour.....
I like the sound of Blakey's idea though with looping another wick.....
