Have a mate who was lucky enough to get a spheroid and V3 picollo last week. Just got a text from him saying that he changed his battery and soon after smelt burning, seems his picollo was "on" constantly and has damaged/melted the battery insulating jacket.
Not owning a picollo myself just thought I'd ask those with more know how than me what the possible cure is ?
I text him and told him it's probably something to do with either the spring collapsing or the switch throw is out because of the constant "on" state, but without having one I'm just guessing.
just had a text telling me the spring is in one piece and undamaged.
thanks
ApO.

Hi Apostle. At the risk of being told not be a patronising arse...he has got the battery in the right way...Piccolo makes contact if in upside down.

Valid point about the battery joey, I'd lean to the batteries being of different lengths and the switch throw being too short, both worth checking maybe?
Edited to add, same happened to me on a cube, man that got red hot, was just glad it wasn't in my pocket.

Hi Joey , yeah I did mention that to him, apparently he has flat topped batts and been putting them in with the negative at the base where the spring is. is that the right way around ? he did also mention the switch has been a bit hit and miss

The negative terminal of the battery needs to be at the switch end.

...but unless they've totally changed the design with the v3 (which is possible cos I haven't seen the insides of one yet) the spring goes in the 510 end not the switch.

Found this, that switch has an adjustable throw so it looks like it can be tweeked to suit different batteries
