I'm trying to connect Android 4 ICS to Mi-fi router. Tablet found the router & has saved the SSID, secured with WPA. When asked to connect it says its Authenticating then says there is an Authentication problem. Signal strength is Excellent & Security is WPA PSK.
Every now & then it says the signal is out of range although the router is beside it.
I've connected the BlackBerry to the router & that's working ok so I'm assuming the problem is with the tablet.
Help in layman's terms would be very much appreciated.

Try using wep as security on the router settings. I had few devices that couldnt connect to a wpa secured network ( nintendo wii for example)

Hmm, not being a tablet owner I know that some WiFi bits and bobs will only connect with the lower/older security settings, temporarily turn of the security and see if the tablet connects, if so try and change to a different authentication setting.
Sorry if that's generally unhelpful but it's the first thing that comes to mind.

It does appear to be a problem with the Tablet, but narrowing it down could be hard. Basic things to try are:
1. Reboot your router.
2. Reboot your the tablet.
3. Try connecting your tablet to another friend's network to see if the same problem exists.
If you google the exact "device name wifi problem" there may be device specific fixes.

Caution on switching to WEP ... it is unsecure in comparison to WPA and any other devices using the router will need to be switched to use WEP

Okay, I've rebooted tablet & router. No different. I can't find a way to edit or delete the security setting or the router SSID from the list of wi-fi networks. I thought these fookin things were supposed to be intuitive ??? Any ideas, please?

if you connect to the MiFi with another computer, you should be able to log in to it from there using the IP address. I'm guessing because you said MiFi it's on the Three network? If so try these steps. ask3.three.co.uk/srvs/cgi-bin/webisapi.dll/,/?new,kb=mbb,ts=mbb,t=casedoc.tem,case=obj%281722%29,varset_username=MBB:mbbUser From there you should be able to change the security settings.

which tablet are you using and which router are you trying to connect to ? BWC (Formerly KiDiGi) tablet & ZTE MF60 router. The data cable is giving a 'damaged usb storage' message which may be inconvenient in the future so I've decided to return it for replacement or refund Thank you all for your help & advice

Just in case you get another Android tablet, locate the network in Settings-->wireless settings-->wi-fi networks and press and hold the network name and a menu will pop up and hit "forget network" and that will delete it off the list. Then you can re-add it.

Thanks Macca. Have been asking the bloody thing to forget network all afternoon but it won't delete. Can't even get the pop up menu now. Will ask for a replacement tomorrow.
