I think that there's a huge amount of good science around. From the sequencing of the Genome, to the technology that were using now and countless other things, including amazing advances in medicine. Were awash in quality science everyday, plenty of bad science too. Of course it requires funding, and the sources of that funding can be an issue. Yet the study I mentioned provides useful information, done on a small budget, by researchers without a known bias. Surely people don't oppose that kind of work?
The pharmaceutical industry has some big problems. Its responsible for shoddy science all the time, the non reporting of studies is a particular issue. Data is misrepresented and when the media gets involved it can be even worse. Yet the possibility to do good quality work is out there and even that industry produces some really useful stuff. Science is mixed up in politics and society and it can be complicated. Yet its one of the few ways to begin to really understand things.
If something like vaping is distinctly healthier than smoking then research can show this. Whilst tobacco companies have huge resources they cant fund a study to show smoking is healthy (although they have tried similar things)

I feel like I've opened a big can of worms now! I don't want big pharma companies to take over the vaping world and am happy how it is now. More what I want to find out for myself, on myself is if the act of vaping is making any difference to me. Some things I already know are: I feel healthier My skin is healthier My wallet is healthier What I really wanna know by tests on myself are my lungs healthier? Oh btw andy I've finally got some gvc!

Well I cannot say whether your lungs are healthier or not, but I know that mine are.
I no longer cough my lungs clear each morning during my first fag and I no longer sound like my next but one neighbour who appears to spend his first outdoor 30 minutes unable to speak to anyone because he is coughing fit to burst. I am told he has been that way for years but I never noticed it before, probably because I was doing the same.
I used to have to sleep only on my right side as I could not breath when I tried to sleep on my left. These days it makes no difference which side I sleep on, my lungs are clear and I am sleeping better than I have in years.
Oh sure, 50 years of smoking cigarettes have damaged my body, but vaping has reversed some of that damage and my body is telling me that.

Got my second carbon monoxide test done today it's now the levels of a non smoker! Woo. Last Friday after 2 days of no analogues I had the readings of a passive smoker. So I'm happy I'm having a spirometery test done on monday and in 6 months I'll check it again to see if vaping is causing any damage to my lungs. I'm sort of doing a small clinical trial on myself Like you l am doing mini experiement on myself, got certificate last week to make me a Official Non Smoker and for the last 5 weeks my reading for c/m has been 4 down to 2 last week and that is from 31 when i started to try and give up without the e cig. i am seeing my doc on tues and going to ask if i can have my Lung Function Test done monthly for 6 months instead of the once a year as i have copd just to see if all this is making any difference to my lungs and if so what?
