Anyone been to mykanos?

OMFG my brother rang me last night he's booked me a holiday a week in mykanos in may! Erm thanks! Am now cancelling the plans to go to Majorca in may lol

Anyone been what's it like?

mykanos where abouts is that is it greek island ???

Yep it is it's only about 33 square miles? With one main town and lots of beeches and not much else to my understanding. Already looked at renting a quad bike for a couple of days to get around.

we whentto zante ..quad bikes or the in thing on most greek islands
take plenty of spendo ...if anything like zante its very expensive indeeed

That's no good Kev will only have minimal spends. My mum was gonna pay for us to go all inc in Majorca so didn't need alot of cash but this is half board. Wil have to find a cheapo taverna for lunches. The buses look cheap at 1.20 euro a go.

It certainly doesn't bother me, but just to let you know Mykanos is a gay haven for holidays, so as long as you or your brother are ok with a large gay community it will be fine.
I was friends with a gay couple who had been there a couple of times, but that was several years ago. Don't know what it is like now.

sorry to dissapoint ya ..but greece and its islands dont do cheap any more
a 10 inch pizza from the takeaway was 10 euros
to put it into simple terms 2 weeks in bulgaria eating out all the time and drinking into the early hours cost me 700 pound
in greece we hardly ate out barely had 3 or 4 drinks each night didnt buy the usual prezzies etcetc and after 11 days found myself going to the bank as my 2 grand was gone along with a further 400 in the last 3 days
not trying to put a dampener on your holiday i hope you and yours have a lovely time

I'm fine with gay dolly! I can do a mean budget so will just go to supermarkets and stick to towels on the sand rather than sun beds. We manage here with very little so I'm sure we can there.

I love Greece, Very friendly people and excellent food, I always make a habit of shopping and eating where the locals do as its generally better and alot cheaper than the tourist places. Hugely cultural and religious, plus great weather and beaches to boot, been to several greek destinations but not Mykonos as yet.

I've only ever been to Cyprus Barry and have had real Cypriot food. I'm assuming it's the same in Greece where you can find a taverna and eat good food for not huge amounts. I need some proper dolmades lol

I had the good fortune of living in Cyprus for 18 months, wonderful island even with its divide, I still got to the turkish half too. But yeah I loved trawling the 'old town" part of Nicosia for the local eateries and tavernas.

Given that Mykanos is so small Im not sure how you will fair, but you can bet there will be cruises to other islands, youll have a ball.

Dolmades is a favourite of mine, but then Shark Steak is pretty fantastic, dash of olive oil with some feta cheese and im anyones i think
