I've heard the talk of keeping the mesh's holes open so capillary action can continue.
I just wondered how people cleaned their old mesh wicks.
I was just planning to blast it with fire for a bit, but I'm not sure if that's just going to block holes with carbon.

I burn them off which works for me, although that's with ones that aren't too bunged up. Sometimes though a fresh mesh & coil is what's needed.

i just re torch them and i have wicks the are still going strong 6 months later!!

I leave them on the Gen with wick still in place and set fire to it, so long as it is not to bunged up, if the coil needs changing then I will take the mesh out and torch it on it's own.

The coil did need changing, so I took the wick out to have a proper look at it. Note to self. Wicks get hot when you burn them ... burnt finger
