Seems lots of people enjoy their Vamos. I personally wouldn't recommend it at all. I dislike the look of it. The batteries rattle and it turned itself off all the time, due to the poor spring. I believe that has been fixed in the new version, though I hear the new spring overheats? My Vamo no longer functions, just reads 9.9 res on anything Sadly I can't return it as I stupidly locked the threads on it (that part being my own fault admittedly) but otherwise I treated in pretty well. If you do get one, I wouldn't recommend getting it from China, as if you have similar problems to me, its going to be a pain returning it. What I recommend if you don't want to save and get a Provari (which would be a good idea) is get a Gary Dibley VV tin mod. I unfortunately sold mine to a pal, its just great. I think there's one for sale on the classies now. Solid, reliable, excellent battery life. The spring fixes most of the problems you talk about, no rattle, no switching off, mine have been totally reliable. The new spring doesnt heat at all, it is either gold plated or copper plated. Mine looks like gold plate, it hasnt tarnished since it was made and has very low resistance. The 9.9 is probably because of the damage to the thread so the centre contact on your atties cant make contact with the centre contact on the VAMO. Have you returned yours, did you get it from China?

For the price of 60-80 fags, even if it only lasted me a couple of weeks it would have paid for itself so i take this vamo everywhere and doesn't matter if i break or lose it.It sounds to me like your centre pin has been squashed down pjim, this explains why when you screw on an atty it reads 9.9ohms.Gently lift the centre pin with a small phillips screwdriver or similar and I bet you it will work.Have the tin mod from Gary and agree its another great mod.Ive snapped a carto and the threads are stuck in the 510 fitting on the tin so mine needs fixed :'(Gutted as i took that tin everywhere.

Cheers for the tip I'll give that a go. Upon visual inspection, it appears sunken, hopefully that will fix it. The threads I've crossed are the tube threads on the first tube section, not the 510 ones. Glad to hear the spring issues are fixed on the new model. I heard about the overheating issue on another post, its not affected me at all, so I can't comment on that really. I was a bit annoyed with the cheap/crap spring on mine. If I can get it working again, I'll replace the spring with the SB hot spring when it becomes available. Got mine 2nd hand (was originally from the Irish store I think), the seller was great, and offered me the reciept for a return, no complaints there at all I'd not considered a return for the spring though, less hassle for me to fix it myself, before the current failure. It just irritates me that it wasn't product tested well enough to identify the spring problem on the first batch. I do hear that some vendors have supplied V1 owners with a better spring, kudos to them. Agreed its a budget buy and if it only lasts a while its not necessarily too bad. Though with many people on a tight budget, its nice to get things that last. Ian: the 510 connectors are pretty cheap from Stealth Vape I think. If you've got a soldering iron, it should be a pretty easy fix to get the trusty tin back into action.

Nice one had to remove the rubber washer to get at the 510 connector. But with a pair of tweezers I've brought it back from the dead. Massive appreciation! Come back Vamo all is forgiven

I'm in the middle of getting a single 'quality control' vamo v2 in SS from alibaba. If I can pay by paypal it's going to cost less than £25 for the full kit.

Good stuff pjim,i knew it would work for you coz I had the same thing happen on my older vamo the other day.Using so many different atomisers its no wonder the pin sinks from time to time.I am useless at fixing devices and can't solder so need someone with the skills to fix my mods for me.I have about five VVs which all need new 510 connectors sitting unused in a box upstairs, what a waste and a shame

Yeah I've had to stretch the spring before when it stopped working, gets it back in action and makes it a bit better. Doesn't solve it completely for me unfortunately. I'll message Sadie about the offer though thanks I use the Panasonics, which are small for 18650s, apparently there's no problem with efests. For anyone else with spring problems, I remember a post from UKV now, I'd forgotten about. Someone went to Maplin, they let him look through there recycled battery bin and he got a spring from a lantern battery, which fixed it fine.

I use nothing but 3400mah unprotected Panasonics, excellent battery. I did use protected ones in it at first and they are a bit longer. Wow, that was good of Maplins to do that, never thought of that.
