Just discovered this forum tonight, I live in Chelmsford
So would be very interested in coming along to this.
Let me know if I can help finding a venue as I'm walking distance to centre of town.

Just what we need someone who knows Chelmsford.

We'd like to find a pub that allows vaping preferably in town so we can get to it from the train station but if not a bit farther afield would be ok. We have people who want to come from all directions so any help would be much appreciated.

not posted on another vaping forum but spent many hours reading a few, mostly USA sites and never felt inclined to join in.

Although I live in Chelmsford I've not got much knowledge of the local pubs, small children and then the ban on smoking inside them meant I gave up using them many years ago. Another plus side to this new hobby:)

We could meet in April at the Southend Pleasure park after 6pm on a Sat - Half price to get in

The Chelmsford idea wasn't getting anywhere

Another Chelmsfordian here! I actually live just outside town (Galleywood) so am also a bit out of touch with the town pubs.

I do have a nice local here, where I'm allowed to vape although it's a bit foodie (nice food mind you) so I don't know how amenable the landlord would be to a bunch of vapers all inside vaping at the same time. I will certainly ask though, and it does have a garden so would be fine in summer. Galleywood is a bit of a pain by train as you'd have to get a bus or cab from Chelmsford town, but it's very convenient for drivers as it's right near the A12 junction.

There's also a nice pub actually on the Galleywood common which is excellent in the summer. I don't go there as much, but I do know the landlord so I could also sound them out if anyone's interested? Again it won't be a problem when the weather's warmer as it has a nice outside area at the front surrounded by the common.

I have had an idea for a pub in Chelmsford, it's just behind the station, with two large car
parks within ....ing distance.
I think it's Independant, as I know some of the breweries are a bit anti. The best bit to my
mind is the name, "The Royal Steamer"
They do food and have a function room, which may come in handy at a later date.
I will try and drop in over the next few days and see if they are amenable.

Haven't been there for a while, but I know the one you mean and used to go there on occasion. If they're not up for it, the white horse might be, it's just a bit further along in Townfield street. They're both "old style" boozers so they might be ok. Others I can think of that might be amenable are the Railway Tavern, the Star and Garter (Moulsham street) and maybe the Woolpack (Mildmay road). The last 2 are a bit of a walk from the station but still a possibility.

Might be a good idea to find out who's interested in coming and start throwing dates around.

We were talking about doing the meet between the LSE ones. Maybe 13/20th April as I think Alan was talking about 6 weeks for the next LSE meet

Also a preference of location, at the mo we have Chelmsford and Southend but at the LSE there were a few guys from Romford who reckon they could find a venue.

So please could people post their preferences
