I have been reading a book this evening called Making Your Own E-liquid by Mike Sands.
Okay, it is an American publication and so you have to convert a lot of the measurements, but in it he describes how to make and then use your own pure nicotine, with all the apropriate safety precautions.
Just wondering if anyone has read this book and have you tried the home made nicotine instructions therein?
If so, how did it work out for you?

I think for me making your own nicotine is just crazy. It's so dangerous, you'd need to be desperate.

I just had a quick look and I don't think that's how to get pure nicotine , that's just steeping tobacco leaves in water much like Frogsters guide on how to obtain a tobacco concentrate but he uses PG not water in the steeping process

I think for me making your own nicotine is just crazy. It's so dangerous, you'd need to be desperate. While none of us are "desperate" at the moment and Nic Base is comparatively cheap, perhaps one year from now methods like the one quoted in that book may be far more the norm for some. It seems strange to me that some of you are so dismissive of the idea that by steeping ordinary shop bought tobacco, be that pipe, cigarette or rolling and then reducing it by evaporation that that would give you nicotine! Have a look at the windows etc of any smokey room and you can scrape the nicotine off the surfaces. The method in the book may be crude and, for me, a bit airy fairy for my tastes in a high mg level and I certainly wouldn't try it unless I had a reliable nicotine strength testing kit, but common sense tells me that this method would work and that the steeping of tobacco, be that cured or raw, will produce nicotine. It is what you steep it in and what you do with that mixture after the steeping that decides how and what you use it for.

The stuff which builds up in smokey rooms on the glass (and everywhere else) is not nicotine, it's tar and other toxic nasties. You won't find any build up of sticky brown gunk in any room you vape in, no matter how hard you look.

The problem with these diy nic extractions is it is not only nicotine that is extracted some of the nasty bits are there also.Just look at the equipment needed to commercially extract nicotine and then remember that will be one dangerous chemical 100% pure even a wiff of it would kill you.The way I understand it the legal limit here is 7.5%/ml or 75mg/ml. Please be careful what you try there is lots of information out there it does not mean it is all safe or even right

So far all I have seen is opinions on whether this would work or the dangers of making nicotine, all of which I am well aware of from previous comments on Nicotine Production.
What I asked was;- Has anyone else read this book? Has anyone tried making Nicotine from this recipe? How did it work out for you?
Personally I have enough Nic Base to see me through quite a few years and by the time I do need to think about obtaining nicotine for nic base, should it be banned by the EU, I am sure there will be many books on the subject available.
The thing is that anyone can grow their own tobacco and this book is for sale by Amazon and is available to anyone who can read and IF what you get from following the recipe is Nicotine, then it is only a matter of time before those that are out to make a fast buck and are none too particular about the quality of what they sell, could be offering nic base well below today's market price.
