you can also stop it shutting down on errors
Go:[win7/vista and Xp] Control panel-System-Advanced System Settings-advanced tab at bottom you will see "Startup and Recovery" click on settings and uncheck below system failure: Write event log Auto restart
think on XP it says shutdown
Should stop silly shutdowns

Just a update and thanks for the tech advice.
Took keyboard off and saw the insides for the first time in this old laptop compaq 6220 model. I wish I had a schematic as the only thing I knew was the fan. Anyway I just blew on it a couple of times and then put the keyboard back on and its seem to done the trick. I will keep in mind other information given as that will come in handy at some point in time. Upto now the Pc has been constantly on for 7 hours and Its playing poker online without no glitches.
AAEC oscars speech
I would like to thank all the contributors for taking time out to reply and advise me in my hour of need.

update on laptop
Sadly its no more...
I would like you to raise your vaping devices and make a toast to your laptops and say these words. I will treat my laptop with care and with upmost respect. I will not take a screwdriver to it or give it a good bashing with my fist. I will always love my laptop the same way as my vaping gear and I will kiss it every day when it powers up.
I shall miss you laptop xx

Your problem should be HDD,MOTHERBOARD, or RAM either of them.
