Depnding on what flavours have been in them I useually soak in hot (not boiling) water or use a denture tab to get rid of any "heavier" flavours
not had any probs yet

Bi-carb of soda should work well to remove smells. Not tried it in the bottles, but it can take the smell of curry paste out of jars. So in theory could I clean my tanks in bi-carb soda to remove any lingering menthol smell/taste? Never tried it yet 9but will soon) but I would say so. Just dilute some in hot water and soak the tanks.
