I would just like to ask what the difference is between cartridges and cartomisers.
I know the difference in as much as what they are.
What i'd really like to know is the difference in performance.
Be interesting to know your personal preferences too.
Also..how long would a caromiser last ? Like..how many refills would you likely get out of one ?

Hi Del, I'm not a cartomiser fan as I don't like the draw on them as much as my preferred LR901 atomisers.
It really does vary how many refills you can get from them. Sometimes as little as 3 or 4, others times, 10 or many more.

Thanks Chrissie, would i be right in saying that the cartomisers are kind of cartridges with atomisers fitted ?
What would be the benefit of using them do you think ?

Del, that's what cartomizers are, a cartridge and atomizer in one package. Inside a conventional cartomizer is the atomizer, which is vertical and centered in the cartridge. Surrounding it is the filler material that holds the e-juice.
The benefits of using a cartomizer are that you don't need a separate atomizer and it will last many hours, before you either throw it away, or refill it with e-juice.
I don't like cartomizers much though, because I find the throat hit and vapor to be light, compared to a separate cartridge and atomizer.

Thanks Jerry - excellent description.
Talking of throat hit i was wondering if there was a good hit formula that used less nicotine.
I am currently using 24mg Gold Virg e liquid. I wonder if in maybe a few weeks time i could reduce the nic content to 18mg without losing thraot hit. Using.....i don't know...say...menthol or something. This vaping "thang" is still green in some ways but i bet this area has been sorted.
My ultimate aim is to get down to 0mg nic and to just be vaping for a little hit and a nice taste.
I do not intend to rush this. And it can take as long as it takes. Not smoking is imperative to me and i wouldn't risk falling off of this particular wagon i've got rolling here.

I've used both in the 2 weeks I've been vaping and I can't really say I've noticed huge differences between them. I used a supermini for the first week and anything after that was a massive improvement. I have yet to experience vaping at different voltages and using LR atties, etc so my opinion may change.
I've refilled carts and carto's and it's hard to get any sort of consistency going to where I could say there's a major difference. I'm enjoying both but I may have more of an opinion after I have done a lot more vaping.

The ratio of nicotine, PG and VG, determine throat hit, Del. Propylene Glycol and nicotine produce the throat hit and Vegetable Glycerine produces the vapor.
I use 18mg nicotine and a ration of 70/30 PG/VG. I would suggest that as you decrease the nicotine content, increase the PG.

I suppose the only way to know your own preference would be to use exactly the same liquid and try them back to back.

Lee as you progress in your vaping equipment, you will notice the difference. I am using a Joye eGo, with a mega atomizer and mega cartridge. The difference in throat hit and vapor are huge, when compared to a cartomizer.

The problem with telling people what they should do, is that we all have different tastes. What is fantastic for me, may be unsatisfactory for you and visa versa.

You can buy it all Dell, but why bother when you can order the ratio you want, from many e-juice suppliers.

yeah jez..indeed.
I'm all for keeping things as simple as possible.
So when you order from suppliers you can state to them what mixture and percentages of ingredients ?

I buy my e-juice from suppliers in the States, Del. Some will let you choose your own ratio of PG/VG and some will not. They all give you a choice of nicotine level.
I don't know about the UK suppliers, so I will leave that for someone more knowledgeable than me, to answer.

Cheers Jerry.
It's good for me to chat about things like this. Each time i do the bigger picture becomes clearer.
It's quite weird to think that only two weeks ago i knew nothing of e cigs or vaping. Nothing at all.
