Yes, more than 1 is kind of essential.

I have a few, quite a lot less than some mind you. Also, I have different "types" not only for different moments in the day/out and about but also just in case one "system" suffers failure with a charger or something.

I have 3 main batteries, which all charge off a standard ego charger. (Riva, Spinner, Crystal)
I have 2 "mods" - a Lavatube (LT) and a Joyetech ego-T or "Tube" mod. These use batteries that come out of the casing and are charged using a separate charger. (The Joyetech can be charged either way).

The posh(er) batteries/mods don't really go with me out of the house, although the Joyetech tube mod would be an excellent choice for lasting ages....

Basically, for me, although everyone will have different thoughts, I use simple stuff out and about, sometimes small for certain situations.

Depending on my long-term vaping plan, I will probably get a full sized VV/VW device like a VAMO or e-Vic.

Seriously, you do need to have back ups, a couple of Ego Twist Batteries are a good place to start if you don't want to go mad Jimmy.
