You wouldn't get loads of vapour if it was not wicking. Coil is getting too hot and setting fire to the juice. Make sure you have set the device to RMS mode ie., NO 2 mode in the VAMO. If it is in NO 1 mode then it's actually putting out close to 4.2 volts if set to 3.5 V on the display. For a 1.4 ohm coil that's 12.5 watts. Ahh u may have something there. I bought the vammo second hand and have no instructions it was after I made the flame coil that I read somewherethat it shoul be on no2 so that explains the flame. Thanks for that. As for the wick giving dry hits ill just need to keep at it to perfect it. I think ill get some mesh and have a go with that

If your coil is setting the juice alight, first fix that..You might find that the wick is working properly but the coil is not only vapourising but burning the juice off the coil. No wick can keep up with that kind of heat. 10 + watts is mostly dual coil territory.
Just press and hold down either the +/- buttons for about 10 seconds and make sure your VAMO displays NO 2. It changes between Mean and RMS every time you do this so if you hold it down for 10 seconds and it shows NO 2, it's been set to NO 1 before you did that.

Post a picture of your wick and coil arrangement..
It's quite possible that your wick is too big and preventing air from entering the tank to replace vapourised juice preventing efficient wicking..

Ill take a pic tomorrow and post it up. I tried to copy your method. The one that Todd did a video of. I didnt have any mesh for the ends or 1mm wick though so tried it with just 2mm wick.

If it's a U-type silica wick make it as low as possible and add a small piece of 2mm buffer wick at the coil area..That'll keep the coil nice and wet and make sure your tails are long enough to reach the bottom of the tank.
The mesh aglets are only to make it easier to poke it down the holes..It's fine without them.

Unwind the coil and put a small piece of 2mm wick alongside your existing wick and wind your coil over 4mm ( 2 x 2mm) of wick. No need for any pins/support. Just wind the coil over the 2 wicks without pulling too tight.

oops another failure. i thought everything was going great the coil was at 2.6ohms but hey i could live with that for a starter put some juice in and it was vaping great. then i started getting the dry hits again and when i checked the ohms they had jumped up to 6.7 ???

Check the top nut and ground screw to make sure your coil ends are making good contact with the center post at one end and the grounding screw at the other end..
Or start afresh and wind a new coil around the same wick..Since you are effectively using a larger wick wind one coil less and you should end up with a 2.2 ohm coil..
