Probably a bit too much juice - it is flammable.
Or if you but too many volts through it will pop the coil - shouldn't see a flame though.

You may find the coil has blown.....Does it fire up still?

My advice would be to make sure the coil is nice and even and firing evenly.
If you get to that point add a little juice and see how it copes, if you see a flame again I would start over.

There's a thread somewhere that I started, same happened to me, my problem, we worked out in the end, was not wicking well enough, this was due to the wick being over oxidised and rolled too tight. I now roll a wick in a wick, both ss not the hybrid one. A really lose one about 2.5 cm wide bit of mesh. Then I roll I tiny skinny one, about 1.5 cm wide mesh and slide it inside the other one. So two straws as it were. Big one with a little one inside. Make sure the whole wick is soaked. If you keep firing it without juice in the tank for too long it will dry out enough for the mesh and little bit of liquid left to get so hot it sets on fire. So a wick in a wick and fill the tank worked for me. Chris

Sorry I should have said before im using silica for the wick. I madee another coil today and it vapes fine for a couple of drags then I get a dry hit so it cant be wicking very well. Ill keep trying till I get it right

sounds like the coil could be strangling the wick when you coil the silica did you have a paperclip or safetypin type thing inbetween to a/keep the silica straight and b/leave enough gap for the wick to "wick"

You wouldn't get loads of vapour if it was not wicking.
Coil is getting too hot and setting fire to the juice. Make sure you have set the device to RMS mode ie., NO 2 mode in the VAMO. If it is in NO 1 mode then it's actually putting out close to 4.2 volts if set to 3.5 V on the display. For a 1.4 ohm coil that's 12.5 watts.
