Either the motor to lock the door is gone or the wires in the loom are damaged..
You can check both.. Open the door and disconnect the litton connector between the door and the body..Then identify the 12v signal pins in the bodyside loom and put the multimeter probes in them and pulse the lock. If you are getting a 12v signal then the bodyside loom is fine.
Identify the two pins going to the lock on the door side connector which carry the 12 v signal and push 12v through it using a jump starter. If the lock does not work, then the it's either the door loom or the motor.
Pull back the gaiters and check the door loom wires for physical damage. If they are not damaged then it is almost certainly the lock motor.
Usually this is due to loom failure, because of the repeated opening and closing of the door.

If you encounter cut wires in the door side loom, they just need repairing with small lengths of spare wire, some solder and heat shrink..
If it is the door motor, it's a bigger job, but not very difficult and you can get door motors from the scrappy for about £20-30.00. Just need to able to remove the door cardwithout damaging it and if you have manual wind up windows, the handle is the hardest to remove. Depends how handy your bloke is. The motor itself is quite easy to replace.

My money would be on a failed relay somewhere in the system... probably at the lock itself although it could be fitted anywhere. Sean
