After about 6 or 7 (maybe a dozen) attempts discovered too large shielding dissipates heat and stores heat evaporating juice over long term, and overpowers coil capacity for heating so takes ages of power to produce a drag. Small is beautiful in this case. So... about 2 wraps of 400 mesh round two strands of bamboo with 33awg kanthalA built around a needle so could really pull coils tight, leave needle in until fitted. ss about 5mm x 8mm on about a 5cm small darning needle. this was 1.9 ohm resistance and provides a nice smooth vape first time no preheat required. case does not warm up so much either. bit bamboo-ey taste still yet but not burning or spitting at all Attachments:

Bamboo taste soon goes, and wicking is great, and no burning of inner wick at all.
But I'd say use a thick darning needle, about half width of large paperclip, and do not mess around with alignment after needle withdrawn, had one pack up, too tightly wound I think in combination with pissing around with alignment after fitting.
I really like the A7 atomiser, my latest coil does not seem to be wicking so fast, but now vaping juice from safercigs, HS impulse (horrendous sounding list of ingredients, but then the hs standard has no list of flavourings. the hs standard vanilla way nicer than enjuice vanilla but whats the ingredients), not keen on it at all, but passable with some ecignet hs menthol mixed in.
