Hi all When joining a forum there always has to be post #1 so here it is I've been more and more embarrassed with my smoking over the last year or two and I know the tar isn't good for my health, but I've been smoking since the age of 16 and on Feb 14th I celebrated my 65th birthday! So I don't think that giving up nicotine is going to work for me, I tried once years ago and lasted 6 weeks; I was ill tempered and very difficult to live with. Last week I noticed a short piece on UK TV about e-cigs, I had never heard of them before and I think this may be the answer to my nicotine addiction, my husband is a non-smoker and to be honest he has never pressured me to give up, but I know I'm putting him at risk as much as myself. Although I'm retired I am very active in our local social and drama group, directing, writing scripts, editing sound tracks/videos managing the website and online radio station. So I spend a lot of time at the PC, and this is when I tend to smoke most. I visit Belgium for my tobacco; GV at 60€ for 10x50g so I know that e-cigs will probably be more expensive for me in the long run, but I think it's time I changed my smoking habit to something a bit safer for me and MOH and more socially acceptable too. Sorry if this sounds a bit like an AA admission of addiction but I guess that's exactly what it is for me, thanks for listening. I've spent a bit of time on this forum reading the posts which have been very helpful and I have decided to buy either the Riva 1100 kit or the Vision 1000 ultimate, both from VapeEscape, so long as they can post to France, I've emailed them to ask. I am at a loss though as to what liquids to buy. Here's are some of my likes and dislikes as far as flavours go. I don't drink alcohol or tea at all. But I do drink large amounts of (real) coffee, I also drink water with meals, I like spearmint but not keen on menthol, I think licorice would be OK, and I LOVE dark chocolate but not caramel ... so, any ideas or recommendations anyone? Regards Debbie

Hello Debbie and welcome. It sounds like you've done your research, and the kits you have mentione are very popular and well-regarded. Recommending juice is the hardest part as everyone's tastes are so different. If you're going to be ordering from VapeEscape the best advice is probably to have a look at the Grizwalds pick'n'mix deals and select some 5ml flavours that take your fancy. That will help you decide on your vaping 'palette'

Hi debbie, im new too and have had the riva1100 for a few daYs. Im very pleased with it and enjoying the different flavours! Others will be more informative but try purchasing multiple 5ml flavours first to give them a try. I have seen many coffee liquids for sale so im sure you will find one right for you

I'd suggest a nice RY4 flavour, I think it's a good middle ground for someone giving up tobacco (I smoked 25 rollies a day) it's a bit tobacco like but with a taste of caramel/vanilla it's one of my absolute faves and is the best of both worlds in my opinion. I get mine from vapology, double flavour and I can literally vape it all day. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Chris.

Hi Deb, You could try a couple of tobacco flavours? What I would recommend for you from vapescape would be virginia, deluxe tobacco, perpetu leche (lovely coffee ice cream - and from our very own perps I believe). I would get 5ml bottles (pick n mix) so you can give them a good try but not have too much if you dont like it - im sure someone from here would also sway. What you should probably do is have a good look yourself if if there are any flavours that you think you might fancy - give them a try! Hope this helps. All the best! Tom

Thank you all for the very quick replies. Yes, I'm thinking about some samplers, but as i can afford to stock up I thought I'd order some 'bulk' supplies at the same time.

D but you may bulk up on some you dont like? try a wide range and then stock up on the ones you take most fancy to - to save having large amounts of liquid you dont like.

Hi debs, first of all welcome, and second you maybe surprised on how much you dont spend,ok initial setup will set you back a few quid but withing a month you would recoup it after that its just juice, even cheaper if you decide to go down the DIY juice, there are some french vendors as well as german,am guseeing you speak french..liek a lot of us its the choosing of juice, that will be hit or miss, but one fave among a lot of people is actually Vanilla Custard! i know sounds gross, but when i started i was on Virginia and was nope thats what i am sticking to ,but started to read about it ,thought hmm give it a try and wow ! where's the sponge cake lol
quite a few new starters have all got on with the Riva 1100 kit and its one of the most recommended, but be warned shiny stuff lol ,one way i looked at my initial outlay was at least i had something to show for it,not a pile of ash in the bin, before i quit at 50 i was doing a 12.5 gr a day ,not touched one in 3 moths oh go me! lol depending on your smoke amount really also helps with what nic juice strength to get ,this will help greatly so guessing average smoker try 18mg,if you find your craving is still for cigs up it ,i started on 36 after a month was down to 12 an dhave stayed there but have aback up of an 18 mg just in case a crave starts
good luck and enjoy

Some of the finest juice money can buy can be obtained here. www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk/It's the only juice that got me off the fags completely. Of course everyone's tastes are different. Best of luck Deb.

Hi Debs
After 31 years smoking I started Vaping 2 weeks ago.
I started with the Riva 1100 deluxe kit and think it is excellent.
Re juices - I mistakenly bought a lot of tobacco flavored samples and a couple of others. I liked the Cherry flavour the most. Bought a few more and liked the Banoffee Cream.
Don't expect what you like to vape to be anything like what you think and try different flavours. I now have another 5 on the way - all fruity lol
I wouldn't buy in bulk until you have tried them.

What lovely people you all are. I'm just scared that if I don't buy enough I'll run out and go back to tobacco. I'm not saying that I defintely want a tobacco flavour, but something that is similar to the taste of GV to start with. I do like the sound of vanilla custard even though I'm not a big fan of vanilla ice cream (coke floats are brill though) I'll take a look at the website you mentioned Ewol, thanks.

If licorice is ok then you might want to try Black Cat from Grizwald's samplers - it's very popular. Also recommend Licorice tabac too. As already mentioned the Perpetu Leche is a nice coffee one too.

Hi DebS, You could have a look at our vendors list. Freedom Vape has moved to Spain. He has a great variety in e liquids, and he ships to EU for free. Please let us know how your vaping goes. )

Thanks all, great advice. I live close to Calais and I am shopping in Kent on Wednesday, but sadly I don't see any retail outlets anywhere near so it will have to be online. I do speak french, but prefer online shopping from the UK, odd that isn't it? I guess it's a Brit thing lol. I did notice the company that moved to Spain and may give them a try. The alchemistscupboard does look the business though, and their postage to France isn't restrictive.
