Plug it in. Drag and drop the music you want on there. Plug it in your stereo. Any problems with that then give us a shout.

you'll probably want to rip your CD's to mp3's. There's lots of free software to do this, I think Windows media player does it too which you probably already have on your PC. Then just drag + drop the files onto your usb stick.

See if you can find an MP3 player that plays MP3 (not a joke, that...)....or perhaps more importantly go looking for a player that "supports" MP3, WAV and WMA.
ipods won't play certain formats and, whilst very good are a pain in the posterior.
For quickly "ripping" a CD onto a Windows XP computer, and then transferring to a music playing device you don't want to be "converting" your media, just a straight drag and drop.

Oh, by the way, there used to be a function in Windows media player (XP) which allowed you to choose ripping directly into the MP3 format.

Just a thought and I might be totally wrong here, but I you sure you need to purchase an MP3 player for you car stereo? My JVC car stereo reads my MP3 files directly from a USB, no need for an external MP3 player, are you sure your's doesn't do the same thing?

ibalders John said his music works fine in his camper van, he wanted the mp3 player for when he's out walking.
