I recieved this information direct from Xtar, I'm sure it will come in handy to suss the fake Xtar products out there in the future.

To verify XTAR original products, new chargers produced after Jan. 2013, there is a new security seal attached to all our XTAR products.

Scratch the seal and enter the 8-digit numbers security code to this link www.xtarlight.com/en/10-services/p-001.asp?id=15 or go to our website > Service > Anti-fake inquiry. Attach photo of the security code for your ref. (see product on the next post with the new security seal attached)

These are the updated securities being produced from january 2013, but it's going to take time to clear the old stock, Xtar said there is a lot of fake chargers about.

Had me wondering there, for a minute.
I couldn't see a seal, but I bought mine mid-January, so was on the cusp of new/older stock, I suppose.
Anyway, putting the serial number into the xtar site brought up confirmation of its validity.
I thought, if this was a fake, it was a bloody good one
