I am such a noob to diy mixing still but I had a go at making my own tobacco extract which has taken 2 days to produce. I followed this guide, so thanks to Frogster for that I bought the leaves from Leisure Liquids ( Sweet Virginia Flue Cured Tobacco) I filtered it 3 times using some Melitta paper coffee filters and ended up with a nice clean looking golden liquid, I ended up with 35mls. I just made up a 5ml 18mg 20% tobacco extract sample and had to give it a quick vape cos I was so excited lol. It smells very, very nice in deed. However, once vaped it does smell a bit like cold tea lol so I'm hoping that steeping it for a while will help, if not then I'll be gutted and sulk lol. Filtering My sample mix

awesome mate. Let us know what its like in a week! I will happily do that. I am going to make another one up tomorrow (today now lol) with a hint of apple in it. I just made up a new wick and coil for my Igo-L in the hope that it might be less tea like but it isn't lol. Steeping it is, a week is such a long time to wait for possible failure!

I leave mine to steep for at least two weeks before I even think about using it in any mix, during this time I may add some EM / Stevia, etc if required to balance it out. you need to wait until it loses it's "green" (old sock) flavour / nose. The colour will / should darken to almost black when it is ready to be used. Then it is mixed with the other componants - VG, PG, Nic Base, Flavourings, etc. It takes another week of steeping (at least - sometimes two) after this to blend to something vapeable. You can't rush it, and from experience, trying to mix it before it is ready will not produce the desired results.

I shall put it in a cupboard and put a reminder on the kitchen calendar so I don't forget about it.

Och Simon, it could be worse. You could be trying to make Whisky. That takes 3 years to "steep".

This thread reminds me, I have 50ml of concentrated real leaf tobacco 50/50 @ 18mg sitting in my cupboard its been there about 2 months lol, I think its time to pull it out & make up some 24mg RY4ish I hope its as good as yours was lazydog , as when I first tried mine it was a let down but that was the day after I bottled it up as you say patients is a virtue. Good luck with yours @simate (Simon)let it steep as LZD says. Will book mark this and let you know how mine turns out after the next stage.

I've tried the "top" juices such as el toro, triphammer and redwood and wasn't at all impressed with them, hopefully mine will be worth the wait. I've still got some leaves so I may make another batch up.

I am really interested in doing this, what strength is the base Nic liquid after straining and how do you test it.

I made some a couple of months back and it was very good. But homemade extracts are a real coil gunker even after triple filtration with cotton, 500 mesh and coffee filter..I needed to clean and burn the coil every 12 hours. There must be a process to remove the sugars from the concentrate which we cannot replicate at home without elaborate equipment...
So I am back on the Hangsen Storm and gave up on the idea.
