Clearo question (Riva)

Yea, I put in the HS Menthol Sensation. Not sure if it's just me or the clearo but it tasted vile, didn't even taste of menthol. I can't even describe what the taste was I got, but certainly not mint or menthol lol.

So far today I've gone from excited, to very disappointed very quickly.  I almost caved in and was so tempted to just go buy some smokes

Don't do it you know you will regret it. I have some of these and they are ok but seem airy www.vapeescape.co.uk/vision-ego-rainbow-v3-rebuildable~388, but having said that they are working.

I am looking into getting a mini Nova but not sure if I can justify spending more on vaping till I need more juice which will be months. I have signed up to the waiting list MarkS suggested for clearos

I have seen a thread somewhere about these tasting really chemically. Is that what you are tasting?

Right had a nose around sems that some people get great nanos amd praise it but others get bad ones that have a plastic chemical taste to them. Seems that you may have a bad few.

It was suggested to soak them in vodka overnight to take the plastic taste away.

Maybe try washing one out with warm water before ising it for the first time to see if that helps if now chuck em all in vodka and see what happens mate.

Thanks mate, yea I think it could have definitely been a chemical style taste, whatever it was it managed to overpower the menthol sensation taste (which from my understanding is something similar to trebor extra strong mints) so it was very potent. I gave it a few drags to pass some through before actually trying to inhale it, I tend to do that with all new bits I've gotten. It's a shame I can't actually test out the other one just yet, unfortunately I got juice in the center pipe due to falling for the "cover bottom and suck hard to prime it 4 or 5 times" so can't use it just yet. Any idea how long until I can actually use it?

Not sure as never had a nano but guessing just make sure it is completely dry before filling.

I put my clearos on a warm radiator to speed up drying.

Ahh ok.

I just smelt the one that had the horrible taste in it and it does smell almost of a burnt plastic chemical, very nasty smell. Is there any alternative I can use to vodka? I don't drink the stuff so don't actually have any and not keen on the idea of buying some just for the clearos.

Yeah you can use the pure alcohol that you buy in chemists but have not used it myself.

Im sure marks used it though but you will have to check.

is that the Isopropanol Alcohol?

If so I have www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003D8QFQO/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that I bought to use on my Xbox when I did a fix on it, is that the correct stuff?

Yeah mikey it is iso, you want the 99.9% stuff .

I have been using it with no problems and there are tutorials around the net to show you how.

Works a treat on clearos, but you do need to let it dry out properly for 24-48 hours.
You can speed this up by using a hairdryer.

Works on carto's too, but you leave them to soak for 24-48 hours and allow to dry for 48-72 hours, again an hairdryer will speed up the process. It will even remove menthol flavours.

yep that's the stuff. Crack on with it mate, but as you know be careful as it is highly inflammable.

The one I linked is the exact one I have, bought it from there a few months before xmas. I will have a ganders then for some tutorials about cleaning them using it and give it a go.

Sorry there was someone at the door so I couldn't elaborate on what to do.

I've picked up most of this from E-Cigarette Forum.

Here goes: Fill the clearo just below half way with the isopropyl (make sure you empty any juice 1st).
Cover both ends of the clearo with finger and thumb and shake profusely for at least a minute. I usually shake it for a few minutes.

Empty out all the isopropyl and shake out any excess, if you wish you can now rinse them out with water (I skip the water rinsing bit as it is not necessary and comes down to personal preference).
Leave the clearomiser on top of a radiator over night to dry out and evaporate all the isopropyl, or use an hairdryer to blow it dry. I've never used the hairdryer method so do not know how long it takes exactly.

Before refilling the Clearomiser,give it a couple of quick blasts on the button, similar to dry burning when you wash them out with water. Fill and enjoy.


With carto's you need a small tub with a lid. Put your dirty carto's in the tub and fill with isopropyl until they are just covered. Put the lid back on the tub and give it a good shake. Leave the carto's in the alcohol for 24-48 hours, and shake the tub every now and then to agitate the isopropyl.

Remove the cartomisers and shake off any excess alcohol and again if you choose you can rinse with water. Allow to dry on a radiator for 48-72 hours or use an hairdryer on them, but again being a blad bloke I've not tried this as I don't have an hairdryer.

Fill and enjoy!

Don't throw away the isopropyl you have just used in the tub as it's good for quite a few goes cleaning your carto's.
