Your not flooding it are you with too much juice. Erm, not sure tbh would that cause the battery to stop working? It seems to trip and I can only reset it after plugging that battery into its charger... Will try and reduce the amount and see if it works

If you've cleaned the connections and raised the centre pin and the battery is working fine with anything else on top, then it looks like the attie!
Have you another battery to try the attie on?
Don't keep using the attie on the battery that's playing up, there's no point and you may damage the battery!

Sounds to me like the Atomiser is too low resistance and the battery over current protection is kicking in. That's why it works again once it's "re-set".
