Feel free to post, PM or give me a call. This was my first mod making attempt(and probably last) and taking on a board without any clue how it should be wired was a challenge. If it wasn't for maccafan I would probably still be fiddling with it now. My advice is as follows: don't get a cheapo soldering iron practice on wires to get used to it (I hadn't soldered in 15 years or so) get a pre-wired 510 connector (you can get em from warlordsmods or stealthvape) - this will save you a massive ball-ache for an extra 70p or so. I've subsequently found that the battery housing I have doesn't like flat top batteries. I think these holders are pretty standard to be honest and it only gets a secure connection with nipple top ones. Also, the back of the Vamo board has electromagnets on it and I recall there is a plastic holder that stops them from touching the interior of the vamo tube. I was unsure of what this would do if they touched the metal tin so secured it with a good blob of epoxy filler (not the araldite glue). There are some good tips in a couple of links I think Skwoddy posted in the vamo blamo thread that are Gary Dibbley's tutorial. Good practice to watch these first. Good luck and stay in touch - make sure you post your progress! Lots of moral support on this forum ...

Thanks again Ash
Im going to be putting it in wood so hopefully there wont be a problem with the electro magnets
im hoping to do it as a twin 18650 rather than a single i like the extra run time of twin batteries,i have a papa r and it goes 2 days before i need to charge the batteries,
im going to be ordering all my bits over the weekend, from stealthvape,i see they have some 510 connectors with the wires all ready on so ill get a couple of those, hopefully i will be able to get started next week
i know what you mean about soldering,i fly a R/C quadcopter and theres a fair bit of soldering involved with those,im not to bad on the bigger soldering bits its the small bits where i struggle but i bought a magnifying glass head set thingamy jiggy lol and it helps i can even manage to do my own coils and wicks now
thanks again, ill definatly be in touch, i feel a whole lot better about attempting this now

If I can do it, you can One other thing, if you get the iron too close to the vamo screen for too long, it will go black from the heat. Don't worry, this is momentary and the colour will return.

In step down mode (series) there is also less stress on the batteries, boosting puts extra stress on the battery especially as it drains down as it needs to progressively provide even more current to properly regulate.

am i right in thinking that batteries in series are like a stacked battery giving a total of 7.4v and parallel are when they run side by side still giving 3.7v but double the mah
will i need to add any extra safety cut outs or anything if i use twin 18650 in series or will the vamo board take care of that
sorry im not that clued up with electrics

if you want you can buy the Vamo VV board for £18.50 from stealthvape or any other parts to build your own box mod

I didn't use it but should be ok I imagine. The epoxy I used was from the pound shop so easy to procure

I'd use hot glue where possible because if you use epoxy for the board you'll probably never move it again if needed without damaging it.
A little thing I do when making buttons for a mod using this type of board is get some stainless steel bolts roughly the thickness you want, you can put them in a drill and use a file and wet + dry paper to shape how you want them for use as buttons straight to the board like the Vamo uses rather than buying and wiring up new switches.

Thanks guys
ive got a broken vv box that has had its bits epoxied in and im going to be struggling to salvage any thing from it due to the epoxy, but i think the 510 connector will need to be epoxied or it might move
Mev good idea about the bolts i never thought of that,
