There are less withdrawal sysmptons from giving up nicotine than from giving up caffeine. We have all been brained washed into thinking giving up smoking is really hard. It is in fact the act of smoking which is very habit forming.
I read 'The only way to stop smoking' by Allen Carr the 1st time I gave up (started smoking again when the husband walked out) and it really surprised me how easy it was to stop smoking, I had no withdrawal sysmptons at all except wanting to go outside and do something with hand to mouth action. Once I found something to do with my old 'smoking time' mentally it was easy as well.
Patches are meant to help people quit, so why do so many people fail with them, they deliver nicotine into the body so in theory people should be able to stop very easily, but they don't and thats because of the habbit of lighting up which is way vaping is very successful as it provides people with 'something to do' whilst stopping smoking.
Personally I don't care how much nicotine we get from vaping, I am getting 3996 less chemicals than I was, I don't smell of smoke which was disgusting and food is starting to taste better, I don't have to stand outside in the pouring rain trying to keep my analogue dry and I don't have panic attacks that I will have enough baccy to last me until the shops open in the morning.
I still take a time out (I work from home) to vape, but it is in the comfort of indoors with a cuppa.

Very interesting point there, Zeldamum, I do agree. I'm not sure I think the amount of nic we get from vaping is of paramount importance to me personally, like many have said - you find your own level you're comfortable at. I think it is important, though, in terms of furthering knowledge and research on vaping, so that it can be more widely accepted, regulated only where necessary, and potentially even promoted by relevant agencies. Understanding more about how and why we successfully quit smoking is very valuable, to me anyhow A vape and a cuppa sounds like bliss right now - off to put the kettle on!

Smoking is part addiction, part habit. Personally, I think vaping works, as both those are replaced with a safer alternative. Also, a lot of us could get away from the addiction side of it, cutting down &/or away from nicotine, but continue happily with the habitual side.
Whatever research is done though, I think collectively, we've done our own. As, how many of us are on here & how many of us have felt the health improvements from replacing cigs with vaping? I don't think there are too many that feel worse, but one hell of a lot that feel a whole different, healthier person from 'ecigs'.
