Virgin Mobile sim only This one is a 30 day contract NOT 12 months so even better. After 2 or 3 months phone retentions and ask for a better deal and they may do it for £9 pm. 1200 minutes Unlimited texts 1GB Mobile Web £12 pm I am currently with T-Mobile and renewed 2 sims last month, I was offered unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data for £11 pm, needless to say I bit their arm off! Its worth having a look on HUKD as nothing gets missed on there.

Looking at choosing based on coverage at the moment. I think there is a hugemongus mobile/data mast about 600 yards away from work. Going to take a look and see if I can work out who it's for...

Right, off to the O2 shop tomorrow. Bye Bye Orange. I'd like to say it's been a pleasure....but I won't. If O2 is £4 more than the Orange Canary or Dolphin or whatever...I don't care. In fact, I don't give a Monkey.

I'm with Talktalk and got a Samsung galaxy Y phone, 100 minutes, 200 texts and 200mb for £5 per month. You do have to be an existing TalkTalk customer though to receive the free phone.

I'm really annoyed with orange/ ee at the moment. I have 4g which is crap as you can't use it most places. And then they decided to lower the price, people like me who already signed up won't get a reduction.
Also took about 4 months of fighting to get a refund of around £150 from them, as I had been over charged with another issue for about 4 years. They really don't like to give money back.
That reminds me, if you have a billing issue you normally get transferred to various call centers in a number of different countries. Those people in those call centers do not know what they are talking about. Nor do they bother to follow up and do what they say they are going to do. Totally unprofessional. They don't even bother to make notes on your account, as they are supposed to. Complete waste of time when you get transferred out of the UK. Just hang up, choose another option and speak to someone in the UK. And refuse to let them transfer you anywhere.

djs I got the same letter from orange and am now leaving them to go to Virgin - they use oranges network so I should be able to get the same coverage. I'm getting a rolling one month contract as I didn't want to be tied to anyone for 12 months. I wanted a sim only deal and will be paying £10 a month for 250 mins, unlimited texts and 1gb of data. Hopefully my new sim will arrive tomorrow. I'm sure that orange will find they lose a lot of customers over this. When I phoned them for my pac code they couldn't match virgins deal, and even if they could I think I still would have left because I think putting their prices up by 50% is outrageous and I told them so !

One of my collegues got the same letter from orange, he is very frugal, and had managed to be on a contract for, wait for it... £4 a month! And that was for over ten years! But he is pretty bummed now he's got to change! As someone has already said, chop and change as you see fit, get the best deal out there!

I phoned Orange 2 years ago and said I had got a better deal with T Mobile (Before they merged)
So I asked for a Pac ? code so I could keep my number
They put me through to someone who must deal with people leaving
They matched and bettered the T-Mobile deal
30 day rollin contract - loads of text - loads of minutes - unlimited landline
Moral of the story is give them a ring before you leave....You may be able to get a better deal
They all want your custom
I also did it with my 3 network mobile broadband....was paying a tenner a month....phoned them and said I was leaving....they dropped it to a fiver straight away

Well, in the end it wasn't so simple.
I wanted to go with 02 but my family are all with Orange EE, which made 02 or Three or Vodaphone a bit dicey....since I will get magic numbers. The in-town shop couldn't help, so I phoned Orange and got a new 12 month deal - don't even need to change my sim.
Anyway, 300 minutes (not including the magic's, which IS a deal-breaker for me) unlimited texts and 500mb, exactly the same deal as would be available to anybody, and day of the week. They wouldn't budge. £10.50.
Three could have done it for £6.50, but £4 doesn't go far with 35p/min out of package..... Clearly, Giff gaff was the best deal, but I want to use my phone properly/regularly without worrying about extra charges. 10 minutes a day is easily reachable, so NOT going over the 300 minutes by having magic numbers was a no-brainer.
Disappointed not to have dropped Orange, but next year I'll push them harder. This year, despite 10+ years, my current business was not worth anything to them....that was clear.
