I have the very same one here fred , works a treat Not sure where me mate got it? Looks about the same as the ebay one, but must be slightly different! Or, knowing my mate, he's busted it up in some way! I was worried as Ive got gear coming to rewick my EVOD and Vision Ego, but no meter to accurately measure the resistance. I'll probably get that one from ebay, coz I can send it back if its not tenth resolution. The one in the post above from Kirrielad looks like good value if it has the backlight and rubber shroud, I`ll be getting one if it has what it says it has. fred theinhalerIt looks like it has a continuity buzzer as well which can test for broken fuses without having to look at the meter. Very handy.

Ooooh - rubber shroud - that's the one for me - constantly bouncing things off the floor these days, only most things don't seem to bounce any more!

Got this one myself Look at this on eBay: Digital LCD Multimeter Voltmeter Ammeter OHM AC DC Circuit Checker Tester Buzzer bit.ly/11U2HCSNice little meter, does it actually have a backlight, and is that a rubber type shroud around it?, the stand bit is handy as well kirrielad robby Yeah it has a backlight the you can use to see the readings better. It's in a rubber shroud, but it ain't really anything significant maybe 5ml or so. Can't complain for the price tho

I read somewhere the light only stays on for about two seconds before you need to hit the button again, but I can cope with that. Is there a button on the left opposite the backlight button with "hold" on it?

yep it's a good cheap little multimeter that XL830L one, on mine the blue back light only stayed on for about 5 - 10 seconds and then would go out on it's own. but if you're handy with a soldering iron it's dead easy to take the back off and fix that just solder a bit of wire or the leg of a capacitor/resistor across those 2 points and the light stays on as long the multimeter is switched on

brilliant Adam78 I`ll even get to mess about with it lolol without the light I was always forgetting to switch it off after I'd used it and the little blue LED doesn't use much power, had the same 9v battery in it since I got it about a year ago.

The light was going off after about 3 seconds, it would be a pain to keep pressing the button. Now the backlight comes on as soon as the meter is switched on. You could say that it is wasting the battery energy, but I have lost count of the number of PP3s I have gone through because I forgot to switch the meter off. Mine has a green backlight on it, nice and bright. Really pleased with this purchase. £5.65 posted First Class. Dont be tempted to tweak the pot inside, it`s probably how they calibrated it
