kathnal wire metallic taste

I have recently started re-wicking my atties, I can successfully make them but i have this awful metallic taste for about 1st 6-8 puffs,is this normal ? or is there something i can do about it or is it the kathnal wire or wick i am using? bought from here

6-8 puffs isn't bad. I'd be happy with that.

I had a terrible taste (that never went away) from my homemade wicks/coils and it turned out to be the wick.

Another waste of money on some pointless e-cig puchase.

Yes sometimes I get a funny taste first few vapes, after that its vape heaven

Evod atty,and going to try one of those ce4 replaceables later we got from bauway

The wick usually gives off a musty taste, metallic taste normally comes from a coil that's too loose

yes I agree with blakey, what i do andy I use a pin and coill the pin and the wick both together nice and tight but not to tight and when the coil is inserted into the atty i remove the pin , when youve inserted the centre pin back in i normaly just give the wires a little tug before I trim the wires, that way it all sits there nice and snug, with a evod , lay a spare peice of wick over the top of the coil, and trim with coiled wick, this prevents the coil in the evod from spitting liquid up the tube .

Flaming your kanthal first with a lighter might help.

Nichrome gives less of a metalic taste (at least to my taste buds), however, some don't like the idea of puffing away on nichrome wire, it behaves better than kanthal when making your coil though & stays where you put it, even after flaming some of the tension out of the kanthal.

I use both but nichrome is my first choice, i guess i'm in a minority on that score.

Thanks for all your help and tips. i tried the pin method bomber and its good.also flamed my kanthal ,never thought of nichrome 300,where can i get that?

Cloud 9 sell it & the mesh company have a special offer on today, .20 is what i use, you get more wraps for the same ohms than the equivilent kanthal

the nichrome turned up today 300, thanks for tip, sooo! much easier to coil a wick ,i will let you know how it vapes later
