lol Perpy and Roachie I have a good camera that does videos but its to high spec and only the mrs can do the video recordings.I dont understand it all,technology left me behind a fair while ago. Anyway,i honestly do appreciate all you brave people for what you are doing,its great to see.Good luck with your venture Roachie,if you give me a bit more info on the web cams and microphones i will have a look and maybe give a video or two a shot one day

You asked for input so i would say i agree that scripted is'nt good as you don't get a "real" feel. However, a few notes/prompts would help give you a little more confidence in front of camera. It also cuts down on the "eeerrrrs" "ummms" and long pauses. You will get a flow going the more you do it. The more comfortable you are the better it looks to watch. Go Roachster !!!

I've got a few suggestions to make, don't worry they are positive I think.

Youtube has it's limitations on length and size of videos and since getting more on there requires you to pay for a subscription I think you should consider finding a good free hosting service where you can upload videos of longer duration and higher quality to.
There are many free website hosts out there that will happily help you get set up and usually the only cost would be buying a domain name from them which is usually starts at £2.99 per year (price from www.123-reg.co.uk/ ) I would buy a domain from 123 then hunt out a decent host that is free and allows video sites to be run.
An even better option is to have paid hosting which doesn't have to cost too much. I am setting up a website at the moment and am going to be paying £1.99 per month for unlimited storage and bandwidth - can't link to it yet as it's still being built.

I don't know what software you have or are planning on getting but I find wirecast excellent, this is what VTTV use I think (don't know the current price though), and I use virtualdub for changing format and some editing tasks since it's free.
For better quality a better webcam is essential as is a good microphone - I prefer a headset to a desktop microphone then I can listen to my own recording as I go.
For a Webcam I use cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-12-0-MEGA-USB-6-LED-WEBCAM-WEB-CAM-CAMERA-MIC-/290496275614?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_Webcams&hash=item43a2ed649e which gets a quite good picture and has built in lights too.
The headset I use is a bit retro but excellent sound quality on earphone and microphone - www.ebuyer.com/product/159846 I got mine on ebay even cheaper than that though.

Thanks very much very the excellent lil prog ive just got is power director which is great cause i love the pnp you can do with it.Its funny cause i just orderd the same cam of amazon but costed me 8.99 so was a lil bit more dearer.

I got a clip on mic so this shuld do the trick the background noise you can hear in the back is the fans i have on as this bedroom gets quiet hot tbh as its a three story house all the heat rises into my room.

Thanks ever so much for the pointers vary its a great help and if things pick up then it might be an idea to get it on its own server.

TBH mate this is all my own doing and would never dream of asking anyone for money it started out as an idea i pushed forward to chirssie and she said it sounded good so i thought id give it a go.As this is purely volutry and i love doing stuff to try and help people out.

I had a friend win one for £1.69 on an auction - took a month to arrive though.

Well vary ive had probs with eletricals from china so i avoid it like the plague now for that side of things.

You wanna know what happend i order 2 hdd caddys first one plugeed in set on fire the plastic melted and everything

second one plugged in went bang

Loads of the parts I need for mods are made in china and I've previosly bought loads of stuff with no problems.
I am an ebay addict ! lol
I agree you have to be careful with some of it though as they do make a load of rubbish stuff too.
The webcams that are like those mentioned are all made over there for instance and work fine.
