dentist visit

Tomorrow I'm due for a check up. Having not smoked for nearly three months (I know! I can hardly believe it myself) do I inform her I no longer smoke? Or is it too soon?
I'm sure she'll see the difference anyhoo

Lucky you - tomorrow im going in for 2 fillings!!

I hate the dentist, but he said it was good, that i was going to try to stop smoking.

Tell her the truth Spikey although you're right, she should see a difference!

About a year before I quit I lost a tooth to very bad gum disease.  I  still have exposed roots in places and the gum disease attacked the bone in my jaw and that's not going to grow back.

But, last week I had a check up, gum disease in total remission    as a preventative measure he did a scale and polish, took 10 minutes, it used to take at least half an hour!

I've noticed my teeth are whiter now. Even had a tad of gum bleeding last night which is a good thing regards not smoking. Means my gob is telling me I could have gum disease there.
Funnily enough, my teeth aren't so sensitive now:) happy days

your gums are bleeding as more oxygen is getting there now so any gum disease you may have should calm down now

Iv got to have a filling tomorrow as well

I was eating a bowl of cornflakes and lost half of my back tooth I thought my teeth would be better once id stopped smoking but iv had nothing but trouble with them

I think the only downside to vaping in relation to oral health is that it does dry your mouth out!

Saliva is needed to kill the bugs and neutralise the sugars etc in our mouth!

I have to go next week. They need to check where they pulled one out for me and i am praying i get my free clean up. I use the dentist school as i allow myself to be set upon by students in exchange for free treatment. Sometimes i reckon they find things for the sake of it!! LOL... but fingers crossed all is well now. I really do need the clean up. My teeth badly need cleaning, but every time i asked they said they couldn't do it till everything was done.

Me, I HATE THE DENTIST! To the extent that I haven't been to one for over 10 years (I know, I know!). My Mum was blessed with strong teeth and I think that is something I've inherited from her. My childhood dentist was a butcher, and I am convinced that is why I have such a fear of dentistry. My brother is the same, so there must be something about Mr. Jones!!!
Since I gave up smoking, I have noticed an increase in gum bleeding, but also how much less sensitive my teeth are. Hopefully in time the bleeding will disappear and I'll be back to normal.
