hi i have just bought a pipe and the owner says it takes 18500 batts clearly in the picture it as a 18490 batt ..is there no difference ??? ok next question ..i assume i will need protected batts as no electrics ? and last but not least were can i get said batts ? good quality ones only ??

From my own digging, there is no difference between 18490 and 18500, except 1mm in length. It all hangs on what the manufacturer has called them. Get IMR batteries as a minimum for protection. I dont think full size protected batteries would fit, as they are even longer with the protection circuit. VapeGear, Ecigwizard, VapeEscape all sell 18490/18500 AW IMR or Ifest IMR in this size.
Someone with more experience may have better advice, but these are the answers I have found or been given in my research for 18500's today.
