Yeah I was meaning use the self checkout, they have a handy little hopper that it all drops down in a couple of seconds. Cheers. I grudge paying the % commission to the machines. I'll check out the nearest Tesco to me to see if they have one. I should imagine any self checkout would be just the same, not just Tesco.

That is great - I can empty the enormous pig, chuck the lot in a bag and take it to the self-service checkout. Get the first £68.33 off my shopping, all in 1ps and 2ps.

I'm miles away from towns large enough for a Tesco and the ironic thing is, the nearest town that should have one is determined to keep them out. I'll have a shufti at the other large-ish supermarkets there, though.

Asda don't have hoppers at self serve checkouts just a slot, having said that we are about to have new ones installed soon. Let me rephrase that OUR asda don't have them. Others may. e also have a coinstar machine, I believe its about 8% now. Since we got the self serve the cash office acquired a coin counter rather than having to weigh and bag them. So I pass my jar to them when I start my shift and collect it with notes in at the end of my shift That's my petrol money for car shows that's aren't close to home, about £70 in it at the moment and my next big show is in September.

My coppers all go to the nice man behind the bar if I am waiting long enough to be served. He is learning, and I am getting served quicker. Everybody is happy.

I bag all my copper coins and 5p 's separately then go to the Post Office on a quiet day, they weigh them pay you , job done, no % loss or waiting in queues. Have done this for years never been refused yet!

My mum has a massive whiskey bottle that she collects 1p 2p and 5p coins in. When it's full she waits for my oh and I to visit then we order a take away and count/any it, it's quite good fun all sitting on the floor chattering and counting money. Normally she has about £230 in there every 2-3 years. She had one while I was growing up and I used to love the counting nights a family friend would always come anpd help us. One year when it was nearly full we went on holiday and when we got back discovered we'd been burgled. The buggers took all sorts of weird things including my school bag and all my school books? But weirdest was the whiskey bottle and coins. The thing (as you can probably imagine is seriously heavy and must have seriously slowed them down! They also used our microwave to make themselves a meal, then washed up!!!
