I think the answer is yes!
But, 'professional' help much appreciated.
OK - the clearo from my Riva 1100 kit has been full of Kiwi-Mix for the last 4 weeks, being vaped on and off amongst other stuff in other clearos/cartos.
It currently has about 0.8ml (1/2 full), and unless I give it a REALLY good swish (like turn it horizontal, and roll it 2 or 3 times), tastes 'kinda burnt'.
From what I've learned over the past 4 weeks, this is my cue to take action. Am I correct?
So, presuming yes, the next question is does it just need a damn good clean (boil in water?) or can I be bold and try to rewick it? The trouble is, it's the standard Vision Ego that came with the kit, therefore technically not rebuildable. I've found a couple of youtube vids on how to do a CE4 (I think), that involve removing the bottom with pliers, then pushing something out with a screwdriver, & so on....
Just wondering: a: can I do that with this vision ego? b: should I clean the thing, rather than trying to rewick it, then attempt to rewick it later on c: if I clean it, how much should I dis-assemble it d: give up on the whole idea and have a stinkie instead
No prizes for answer d, as that would involve going to a shop, finding a lighter, yada-yada-yada......
So, thanks in advance for any confirmation in how to prolong the life of this little clearo.

Yes, it sounds like it needs a wash in warm water (don't use boiling water it will distort the plastic). Then let it dry and dry-burn it

I'm no expert ...but I would b just give it a wash out ...warm not boiling water and set it out to dry on a piece of kitchen roll on the radiator ...takes about a day to dry .....then use it again .....that's what I do anyway

Not worth re-coiling IMHO but a good clean and a dry burn can get it back to 90%. As @oneday says above, do not boil it! Also once cleaned with water give it a good shake out and blow through then you can try a dry burn, once this is done rinse and shake/blow again and then fill and vape! Some wait for them to completely dry before filling but I think it's unnecessary.

OK, thanks, so no boiling water Having just watched the video on Super-Shiny's guide again, I'm just trying to weigh up the pros & cons of dry-burning vs 'radiator method'. I don't have radiators , so the best I could do is a hot water pipe in the airing cupboard! How does the 'gunk' get removed from the actual coil if you dont dry burn - I mean the water will wash the wick to some extent, but the bit of wick in the middle with the coil will not get much cleaning action, surely? Is there not a fear of burning out the coil by dry-burning? Having not yet disassembled one of these things yet, I'm guessing that the 'gunk' will be some kind of gloopy/gunky substance and carbon type particles?

Put some water into the clearo and shake like there is no tomorrow, works great.

Certainly dry burning gets all the gunk off the coil. The wick material can withstand 1500 degrees so no danger of burning it

Like in the same way as a lightbulb burning out? I suppose that in several second bursts, shouldn't be a problem - even if it is, I've got a couple more, and then I could try taking it apart & rebuilding it. Even if that is not successful, it will give me further insight into how these things are put together and function. (I like to know the ass end of a fart when it comes to stuff like this)

I'd recommend putting it in a piece of fruit, taking it outside to the garden and shooting it with an air rifle. Then buy something else. (not a joke, just in case..... )
